I would like to know what would be a good size/quality cage for a parrot. I have been looking at several online and I came across this one that caught my eye but I would like any suggestions on cages since this is my very first parrot. He is not big but I would like to purchase one that will last him a long time! Thank you! :green1:

It's a bit on the small size.
Other thing is that the door size is small. It will be hard to reach in and hang toys up.
I am using a cage of about that size for one of my green cheek amazon's but I want to get him out and living with my other green cheek amazon as soon as possible.

If you want it for long term it should be bigger.

Thank you! I will look into more cages and bigger a bigger size!

its kinda fine, Look more for width and depth. it all depends on how much time they will be in the cage. Can you leave it open during the day? etc.

Bigger is always better, just make sure the bar-width is not overly wide to prevent the head from becoming stuck.

I prefer the playtop style (pictured) over the dome-top. Many birds enjoy playing on top.

LULZ....
to what scott said Zods a top, Clark is a bottom, (or inside the cage)...

The bar-width is 0.6”. Thats one of the reasons I liked that one so he could have an extra space to play, sleep, eat, etc.

I wouldn't get that cage off of Amazon... not for a parrot at least. I had bought that cage for our cockatiel and it turned out to be tall and skinny and rather tiny overall! We ended up reselling it and upgrading.

For our Amazon we recently bought this cage from Hayneedle... (see attachment) I'm overall VERY pleased with the cage. Its very heavy and sturdy, bars are a great size and durability, and its HUGE. Our girl has loads of space to climb, roost, hang upside down and play... I got this cage on sale and with a discount code for about $450 so you can definitely get deals if your patient/shop around.

We have used BirdCages4Less.com for a very long time! They sell only Cages and cage accessories, and this is very important since mid to larger cages come in two or more boxes. When one ships only cages and cage related stuff, their staff knows what boxes go with what cages.
Far too common with major retailer websites to screw-up the shipment(s).

Cage Depth (front to back): Measure the door openings between where the cage will be placed and each door between there and the outside of your home your apartment. If you need to get this Amazon out of your home and fast, this allows you to simply roll it out (without the seed catcher).

Access Door: As stated above, get a big one (Top to bottom of the front of the cage and centered. This one feature will make everyone's life just easier for so many reasons!

Play tops vs dome tops: This is a personal choice item. IMHO, the play top wins every time as it provides an additional perch play area and just as important, a place to put things when one is cleaning or servicing the cage.

Bar opening: Zero error on this item!!! Judge the width of your Amazon's head at eye level. That is the maximum width. Anything smaller is great. That size or larger is a death trap for your Parrot.

Check-out the Amazon Forum and that Thread at the top highlighted in light blue Titled: I love Amazons - ... That huge Thread contains near thirty Segments that will provide you tons of information regarding Loving and Living with Amazons.

So far yes! I had called to make an appointment with the avian vet near me and they said he was on vacation so im going to wait for him to come back from vacation. I don’t want to take him to a regular vet because like yall said an avian vet knows more about birds than a vet in general. Therefore im buying him a cage so he can have extra room to play in.:01:
