Negative Nellies

LOL the cheeky gelding i used to ride was an anglo arab. I think arabs and arab x are the cheekiest devils... aside from ponies... the smaller they are the bigger the attitude LOL

I didnt get the corner cage :( And I am devastated LOL I know that sounds dumb but I really am. I wanted that big corner cage!! I had plans on how to set it up and it was going to fit neatly next to my work desk. I ended up going with another one from GT Mall which is not good quality what so ever and it stupidly tall. Its 185cm tall, its about 10cm taller than me, if my bird decides to go up top its going to be irritating. I hate the cage already and I paid almost as much for it as the corner cage.

I dont know why I hate it so much. Probably because its not the one I wanted and Im a spoiled brat like that :p

..... Birds are so much easier! :54:

Oh yes, they are. AND often smarter, funnier, easier to get along with, more affectionate (heck, my Niko is an expert French kisser), etc etc etc. :D

YEP!! LOL I couldn't agree more!! I'll add quieter in there as well. :p And they smell better. And they appreciate my cooking... so much so they paint the walls with it daily!

ROFLMAO. Same here. LOLOLOL.

It's a LOVELY cage you got! No second-guessing yourself! ;) Your Corella will LOVE that cage. :)

ahh arabs have so much personalty! we have a mini x who tries to rear when we give her a wash, it's so funny that she tries so hard :p

awwww damn :(
the corner cage was 185 cm too! so tall haha
that one looks big though! have you found a spot for it?

well maybe in a year if the corners come back in stock you can always sell this one and get the corner one? :)

Just hang in there. Its a big decision for you and if you have done all your research, you will be fine. Seems like you are set on this bird so you should see it through. Dont let the negative comments get to you. People think they are helping but sometimes its not helpful at all.

Good for you, stick with the bird you want and dont listen to others ! So many people told me I was crazy for finally allowing my son to have a U2, but I didnt listen. He did his research for years and he visited many Too's at rescues and pet shops. His girl is so sweet and loving and only gets loud after dark. He had studied how to stop screaming and has done quite well with that. She brings joy to our entire household and is perfect for him as she is much more playful than our Ekkie. You already know Too's so you know what your getting in to, just laugh at others opinions because they will be the ones missing out on the joy your baby will bring you.

Tab, unfortunately not....he can't be handled during his hormone stage and he prefers the dogs over me. Once it passes I could handle him once again. In about 5 weeks or so.....

Boysmom, that again goes back to the hormonal change. Is she still a baby right now? Once they reach a certain age at approx 10years old you'll see changes. I know way too many people with toos....we own 2 ourselves.....I still love'em though.....one of my favorite parrot are Cockatoos.....

Yeah I was thinking I will buy the corner cage when they are back in stock :D then this one can be his patio cage. I've just stuck the cage in the middle of the room, it doesnt fit anywhere and if I put it in the corner I cant get into it :(

Blasted fate! I should have got the corner cage when I wanted it, instead of being so cheap! LOL

haha good idea :D the more the merrier ;)
aww well who knew they would go out of stock! they must be pretty popular !

What kind of branch is that at the bottom?
How long until your baby is weaned? :)

Its a paperbark branch :) We live across the road from some parkland, a creek with a small paperbark forest lol So I got heaps of them for him to destroy :) I brought back two small trees which had fallen in the big winds. You should have seen the looks I was getting as I was dragging a small tree across the road. It was about 4m tall, I was exhausted when I got back LOL The other was much smaller.

I dont know when I get my baby :( I dont get any updates from the breeder and I am too scared to harass her for updates. I wish I had known she was pregnant and wouldn't be putting 100% into her birds, cause its a bit unsettling not knowing when he will be finished, how he is going, not getting any photos. Dont even have the DNA results yet. :o I asked when he would be ready a couple of weeks ago and she said not for another month or two because they arent even slightly interested in food yet.

Thingamagigs~ I have a corner cage and it is awkward for fitting in places, if you ever want to rearrange the furniture. Which I do at least once a year if not twice. I get sick of seeing it the same and moving the furniture is cheaper than buying new stuff. You can't just put it against a wall because it looks odd when not cornered...If that makes sense. Plus the door is huge and only opens one way so you need to take note of that when placing the cage somewhere.

but Aims, every room has 4 corners ;) hehe
i like my corner cage because it doesnt look out of place in the middle of a wall, its just nicely in the corner

and thingamagigs i could just imagine the looks you got when you were pulling the tree! :p
and just email the lady! it is sort of your baby now, so you have the right to know how he is going! :) an email once in a week couldnt be that hard to send to you :)

As you get older, you'll get over all the re-arranging.. lol

LOL its true Lene, I used to rearrange my furniture probably once a fortnight at one stage!! Maybe its some type of nesting instinct :p I dont rearrange my furniture anymore, unless I get something new or need a new function for the room. I still have a very odd sense of needing things to be in certain places... my brain wont allow me to put anything in the corners of my rooms... this is where a corner cage is perfect for me, every one of my rooms has empty corners. LOL I have a big open plan kitchen/dining/lounge area and the dining room has a huge empty corner. I had to move my desk into that corner so the new cage could be in the middle of the room. My brain doesnt like it lol to me it becomes less functional being in the corner. I must be slightly obsessive compulsive or something lol I should take a photo of all my ridiculous empty corners :(

And yeah Tab! Thats what I thought... why is it so hard to just take a quick pic with the phone and send through an update once a week or fortnight :( I've already paid her $200 as a deposit. Ah well. I remember what its like though, I was raising a litter of puppies while I was pregnant and it all seemed like far too much work. LOL

Sticking up for 'too's :white1:

I think your going to love your Corella, there so clever and lovely. The lady you were talking about in your first comment may have been jealous.

Hopefully see some pictures soon, you will adore the corella there so fun.

Hey Tab, are you in the brisbane region? If so, what vet do you use?
I contacted Brisbane Bird Vets but they are very expensive. I was hoping to find someone who was closer to the regular vet price, not double it! lol

I go to Dr Bob Donely, he is at the UQ vet, and i did work experience with him, he also does an article in Birdkeeper magazine, and owns 2 greenwings, however the breeders where i got Fargo from use Peter Wilson, so i assume he is good as well
When Fargo went for his check up with Bob it cost $91.25
Im not sure if thats expensive or not haha

Nah thats heaps better, thats more or less the price I was looking at. Brisbane Bird Vet are charging $120 plus testing. A psiticosis test $93, a full blood work up $172 on top. Microchipping $125. Your vet is $30 cheaper, which makes a difference... thats a months worth of bird food, or three new birdy toys etc. Brisbane bird vets is new and they have fancy facilities, I guess thats why they think they can justify it. I expected to pay more than a regular vet, but not more than twice as much! So yeah, $90 is heaps better! lol
