So, my cockatiels have been mating recently and I wanted to introduce a nest box in case. I don't have a door to put the opening in, so I wanted to know if there was a way to hang it without a door.

A nest box 'in case' of what? Sounds like you intend to breed your cockatiels, so I urge you to please do extensive research on the subject. :)

Breeding your Cockatiels / Continued

I have done research on breeding cockatiels. I wanted to breed my birds years ago but with no success so i stopped it. I am in the process of getting the incubators and other breeding tools.

I always cut the cage bars to allow for the box, personally.

As much as I hate cutting the cage bars, I do try to make a door to close when there's no nestbox. Acrylic sheeting for right now but if I had the tools and work space, I'd make it out of metal.

I also take a metal file and smooth down the cut edges so everything is even and not sharp.

I use "S" hooks to attach the nest box to the cage, but that can vary with the type of nest box and where it's being attached. My Amazon's box has a chain that I use to securely keep it against the cage so there are no unwanted escapes.
