Thank you very much im lookin forward to enjoying lots of time with him

First, thank you for adopting an older bird! It takes a special person to do so, and is about the most amazing experience you can have. I am a very proud mommy of an adopted zon, and every milestone we cross makes me all the more sure I did the right thing adopting. Plus, it's an experience that has taught me so much compassion and patience. I hope to adopt one more bird in the future!

I agree he's most likely an orange wing. He has such big, beautiful eyes! I bet he's a real sweetie :-) Zons are awesome birds, and I'm sure you'll enjoy his company as much as he will yours. So when is he coming home? Does he have a name already or do you have one in mind? Keep us posted on him, and if you have any questions, there are a lot of adoptive "parronts" on this forum who can help you along the way. Best of luck!

He's beautiful! Congrats and welcome. I agree he looks like an orange wing. There really is nothing like an Amazon, they are so funny! Today Teddy, my Mom's Blue Fronted scolded me for not taking him out right away. He says in a gravely voice, Ohhh ERIN i want out! I am sure your new amazon will bring you lots of happiness. You are definitely in for some adventures =)

What a beautie, good luck and welcome

Thanks for giving an older zon a new home. Hope to see you around on the forum. I'm sure you'll have lots of questions.

Thanks for all the comments and im sure ill have lots of questions and need advice to answer a few questions I pick him up on the 10 th of april had to wait till his cage arrives and his name is Kobie again thanks for all the good wishes and comments lookin forward to talkin and learnin from experienced bird peoples LOL

Welcome!!

I adopted a 35 year old amazon about 6 months ago, best thing I ever did.
They are smart, funny, curious and loving.
Lots of great info on these forums from diet to behaviour and lots of great people that can help out any time you need it.

Ok I need some help already LOL I been reading about foods need some opinions Dr Harveys exotic or Zupreem anybody use either of these ???

Can't say that I do. There are some really well recommended brands out there.
My Vet recommends 50% pellets, 40% veggies, grain and nuts and 10% fruit.

Diet is one of those subjects that everyone has an opinion on, look at some old threads LOL. See what your guy is already eating and stick to that in the beginning and if you think it should be changed, change over a little at a time. Moving into a new home comes with some stress for the bird so I would keep his diet as it is for a week or 3 till he starts to get a bit more comfortable.

Oh and the best pellets are the ones he will eat.

Harrison, Tops, Roundybush are the some of the best, best to get small samples and see what he likes.

Thanks for sure I wont introduce anything new until hes settled some just curious I don't have his current food information yet should get that today am expecting a call from his foster parent got lots of questions for them thanks

We feed Vita Prima seed mix in the morning and Rainbow Birds cooked grains mix at night, along with plenty of fresh fruit/veggies and healthy table foods. Dietarily, parrots need a wide variety of different foods, so also familiarize yourself with all the fresh produce and table foods that are healthy for them too.

I have been doing a lot of reading no worries he will get fruits and veggies daily just curious about pellets and other type of foods thanks again

Ms SandyBee hit the nail n the head , what ever he'll eat. You can always change around after he learns to eat pellets.I feed them as treats to new birds and usually can get them to convert.Size matters , so try different size pellets.I'd look for a "daily maintenance " pellet instead of the "hi Pro" that's better suited to fighted /breeder birds. Variety is the best diet, you are what you eat applies.

finally got to talk to the lady who is fostering him hes on zupreem natural and he is for sure a man s bird she said he just turns away from women doesnt attempt to bite or anything just turns away the story behind him is his original owners he took to the man and after they had him like 13 yrs the man got cancer and passed away and the wife couldn't get him to take to her so she sent him to this rescue I found and lucky me I found him the first day they put him up im so happy cant wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm so glad to hear he wasn't abused or neglected in his past, and that the wife realized he would be happier in a different home. Sounds like it was fate that brought him to you :-) Just curious, but what made you decide to adopt a parrot?

Ive always wanted one and I retired bout 4 yrs ago I been looking on and off for a rescue guy... I had a conure years ago like 40 had to give him to a friend when I went in the service and birds just seem to like me I can walk into bout any shop or vets office where they are and they seem to gravitate towards me and besides im bored since I retired LOL
