New and soaking up info

Hello,
New here and presently just researching, researching and some more researching. I had a couple of small parakeets as a child and have always been interested in owning a larger bird. Now years later kids are grown and moved out I'm thinking nows the time. We're interested in a blue and gold macaw. My fiancé is in agreement and researching with me. We have reef aquariums and have always been pet people. We own our home and have plenty of room for large cages and multiple perches and play areas.

So currently We're asking for suggestions for books, websites videos etc. also we live in NW Washington state, hoping to find some kind of bird sanctuary or center to hopefully be able to volunteer some of our time to learn and enter act with multible types of birds.

How exciting that you and your fiance are planning on a Blue & Gold. They are AWESOME birds, very playful, energetic and also snuggly.
