Hi,
Dan and Beer here, we're new to the forum and new to macaws.

We bought ourselves a baby B&GM a few weeks back as a 1 year anniversary present to ourselves. 😁 little Maxx is 3 weeks old at the time and we will be bringing him home when he's about 2 months old. We did our homework with reading up as much as possible over macaws. And that is how I found this forum and considering our experience i thought it might not be a bad idea to obtain a little bit more information from distinguished bird owners on here 😉

I myself kept little parakeets and so when I was a kid, but that's a bit over 20 year's ago 👴
My first choice would have been a rescue macaw, but we live in Thailand and as far as I've looked there aren't rescue centers for birds here. But that being said I think razing our own little baby macaw will be as amazing.

If you guy's wouldn't mind helping me in the direction of some previously written post's or your own experience in raising a baby macaw I will be very thankful.
And I'll post a few pictures of our little baby while he's still in the bird center where we bought him

Thank you
Beer, Dan and Maxx :blue1:

Welcome and be welcomed! Go to the Macaw sub-board , and start reading the pinned topics. and then read everything by birdiman666, who is our resident macaw genius. He truly knows and understands macaws like no other. SO is that your nekid little baby in the pictures?

Welcome and Congratulations! I can't think of a sweeter anniversary gift. Beautiful photos!

Welcome Dan and Beer!! What a beautiful macaw, he has grown so well!! Nice choice of an anniversary gift to last a lifetime.

Nice outdoor enclosure, should give him freedom and safety!!

Congratulations! My husband and I are first time bird parents too and everyone has been super helpful and friendly! Good Luck with Maxx he's super cute, I love the awkward baby look :)

Congratulations!! My only concern is the baby coming home at 2 months old. It's best that they are fully weaned before the breeder sends them to their new home. Our B&G was alittle over 4 months old before he was weaned. Each bird is different when they give up formula but 2 months seems to young. Hopefully some more members will have advice on this, just in case I'm wrong.

Our breeder told us that taking Maxx home that early would strengthen the bond we will get with him. He will be quite a bit bigger at 2 months then that he is right now and his feathers at 2 months will have come out much more to.

Is the breeder close enough to visit weekly? You can start bonding with visits. Hand feeding is very hard, and can be dangerous if you don't have experience. Very stressful time. Like I said hopefully someone on the forum with weaning experience will chime in.
