I picked up my baby bird today. This is my first bird since I had a parakeet at a very young age. I have done a lot of reading but I am sure I will still have tons of questions. Also the mom of a small chi and fish!

Well seems like you got the right bird as it has been a while since you've taken care of one. Luckily they're pretty independent birds and do not require as much time as other birds. What do you intend on feeding your new friend?

Congrats on your new baby! Tiels are great. I have a 20yr tiel named Peaches. She is very calm and docile. She is also very independent.

Tiels and keets are quite easy to care for and are both great 'beginner birds' as they don't require the level of care and time as the other birds like conures, toos, and macaws.

The breeder had him/her on roudybush. I will probably keep him on the same food. Is there a brand with better ingredients out there?
The plan is to get an eclectus baby in about 5 or 6 months. I still have plenty of time to make sure that is the right option!

Hi and welcome. Nice little birds with plenty of character and quite forgiving for the novice. I imagine you'll get all the advice you need here but if you find you're struggling then I can put you in contact with a lady who specialises in caring for tiels.

Yay congrats on the new baby! Very sweet little birds. Roudybush is a good brand. Good luck.
