Orange-Winged Amazon ~ Marley
So last night i rescued a african grey from a client of mine. They thought it was a male but its oious its female as she hates all female humans and loves the husband but unfortunatly he does not live at home anymore and is also a pilot. Ive taken her in her name used to be Jack Sparrow so ive changed it to Jackie which is a little more female. Here are some pics

Congrats on your new family member! Maybe being in a new loving environment will help to stop "Jackies" feather picking. She's very cute, even with her tattered clothing. Cool cage too!

That actually means nothing as to whether it's male or female. Our grey (which was dna male) at first only loved my partner (who is a woman) and then after he was like 12 he only loved our son (who did not reciprocate the feelings.)

Congrats on your new buddy! Greys are awesome!

Congratulations, Jack or Jackie looks like a fine addition to your family!

Karen's right, the only way to determine your bird's gender is a DNA test.

Congrats! Best of luck with "Jack"! It's just a widespread myth about parrots preferring opposite sex humans ;). DNA is the only way to tell for sure on a Grey.

That is the most interesting shaped cage I've ever seen!

That cage is rather interesting if I say so myself. I've never seen an oval cage on the market... [emoji14]

Awww, good luck with Jackie, she/he is a beauty:)

I have a cage like that that was given to us, and I had my amazon in it for a little while. He had a really hard time getting around the cage with the sides being rounded. Does Jackie have any trouble with the sides? It may have just been him:)

Congrats on Jackie:) He has a really cool cage! I bet Kiwi would love something like that to climb around in/on. I bet if you show her the same love and care you show Marley, she will be fully feathered, happy and back to optimum health in no time! Keep us updated on her.

Thanks for all your replies and i have a very cool pic to upload for you guys to see!

I took her to the vet for a checkup and he said he has been jackies vet for over 4 years and that when she was in good health he thought that it was female also but the previous owners didnt want to know and just stuck with thinking she was a he. Iw ill get a dna at some point but its quite expensive so not yet :)

The cage she loves as its nice to hang upside down in lol its an amazing cage and Marley keeps walki g over and climbing over it.

After just 12 hours of being at my home i decided to let jackie out her cage for a trial run. She quietly sat on the top chatting away and throwing pellets at the dog... Gets to night time and we switch off the lights and just have the tv on so marley can sleep otherwise her gets grumpy and soon as the light goes out jackie flys to the otherside of the room straight onto my shoulder. :)

Looks like shes transitioning well. Awesome!
