new foods and new colors

Okay, so I am sitting here eating cherries and blueberries (YUM!) and Pix is eyeballing me and peeping. peep peep peep ... like that. So I bring him a cherry (he already had blueberries) and wedge it between the bars of his cage. You'd think the bird had never been fed before - he dug in and ate the whole half stuck in. When he was finished he had cherry and blue berry stains on his chest and cheek feathers. So now, my sweet little Pix-e-doodle is even more colorful ... just thought you'd all get a smile from that. Oh, and after his pig out he danced for close to an hour .... major sugar high perhaps?

YAY! I love hearing about your birds eating new foods! Very encouraging!

now their "other" food repertoire consists of broccoli, grapes (sometimes and only cut into little bits), leafs (lettuce, broccoli leaves etc), cherries, blueberries, pumpkin, carrots (finely grated), chicken, people bread, birdie bread, and I am certain I am forgetting some things. if I am having it and it is safe for them then I give them some.

I find trial and error works best. some things they don't like, others they do. no harm in trying new things as long as its something that is safe for them.

Oooooooo Cherries, I love cherries, but so do Bucc and Kito, so that means I have to share them, and believe me they eat them a lot faster than I can. They hardly give me time to take the pip out.

My guys are little and they just go at the meat of the cherries but yeah they love them. I just know the effect too many cherries can have on some people so I am not giving them too too many

Thats just what I tell Bucc, but he has his head so far in the cherry bag I don't think he hears me. They are the days he is going to be cleaning his own cage

I have the picture, now all I need to do is to get him to go along with it. I've managed to get him holding a paintbrush, but then he just trys to eat it.
