Hello, I am bringing home a tame budgie in the next month or two, and most of the guides I am finding are centred around budgies who have not yet been hand tamed. I realize the trust building process is still going to be crucial to our relationship, but how does the budgie already being tame affect the process of our trust building? Some of this is obviously going to be about going with the flow and trusting in the little ones cues and such, but are there any specific pointers I should know about? I want to make sure I don't go so slow that he loses interest in being held, but that I don't go so fast that he feels unsafe or we find ourselves in an unwanted situation.

Thanks!

If he is already tame, spend time with him! As much as you can. Be patient and kind, and the trust and the bond will naturally build. Have fun!

Don't forget that he can learn to talk and do tricks. Training is a great way to build trust! As is just spending time with him. Reading, watching tv, playing video games, whatever! The bird doesn't have to be the focus of every second that you spend with him. Train a little, scratch his head a little, watch a tv show with him on your shoulder, train a bit more, eat a bird safe meal together, etc. :D

Thank you so much! Eee this all sounds like so much fun. I am so grateful that our landlord allowed us to have a budgie! :) I am excited to bring him/her home! :greenyellow:
