Cockatiels: I got them on April 16th, 2026. Age is how I got them.
Cinnamon Cockatiel - Kelma (female)
Age: About 10 months.

Lutino Cockatiel - Gummigoo (male)
Age: About over a year.
Hi! I'm Gouda, or Finch, or just Goudafinch is fine too. I'm a nonbinary teen bird enthusiast who has had a bit of experience owning birds (initially parakeets) and now currently own two cockatiels. One is cinnamon, and her name is Kelma. The other is a Lutino, and his name is Gummigoo. One is over a year and another is under a year. I forgot which. Oops.

I made this account on this forum so that if there ever is a moment of doubt I have or need assistance with my birds, I would like to ask and get that help from people who are way more experienced and knowledgeable on birds than I am! I also don't mind making any friends either.

The previous owner of these birds was a clipper- she clipped their wings. Her excuse was so that they wouldn't fly away, but why own a bird if you won't let them fly? It's because she brought them outdoors and they would shoulder ride her. In the future, I hope to get bird harnesses (either from Leather4feathers on etsy or The Aviator) so they can roam freely with me. I never clipped a bird. Not in my plans either. She had a bird travel backpack too so I don't know why she didn't use it-

I got these fellas for free on craigslist. With their toys, two cages (one small, another big), food, a travel backpack (which has breathable mesh and can expand into some weird tunnel thing- maybe I can post later?), and other things that they needed. I am aware of their high maintenance, as the lady herself told me, and I'm aware that anything that isn't a parakeet will be a challenge.

These are some very picky birds, but they also love annoying you (as I would assume any other parrot would do lol) if you're eating your own snacks or food. I am still trying to get them to like veggies more, and fruits. I've sprinkled some of that variety into their diet but they're still hesitant.

Anyways, it is nice to meet you all! Also, they didn't eat the cereal in the picture. They tried to. They always harass me over my food.. EAT YOUR OWNN

edit: I edited this to give a better description, I realize I was a bit vague!!

Welcome to the forums, @goudafinch, Kelma and Gummigoo, I'm so glad to have you all aboard! You're right, there is a whole world of knowledge and experience here, I had kept birds for almost 50 years prior to joining a few years back but I learned more from the folks here in my first six months than in all the years before - and there is ALWAYS new stuff to learn. I hope you enjoy being part of our community 💝

Woah- that’s a lot! Always wanted a large flock and an aviary. Must be nice!! And loud lol

11 of my 19 budgies fly around my living area from 7am to 7pm so they're they're more like messy housemates that don't clean up and pay rent.
