DARN! MY POST WAS DELETED!
Anyways, Dad brought home a little peach-faced lovebird from the Humane Society yesterday. Not a fan of lovebirds and we're out of cages, but we got her for free, so whatever.
Dang, I wrote some funny stuff, but it all got deleted -_-. ANYWAYS... Her name's Snuggles, which is a horrible name (for her), so Mom named her Rosie. Her old home's notorious for surrendering animals to the shelter, and she and her cage reek of cigarettes. Man, what idiots.
Anyways, I wasn't really looking forward to having her live with us (I don't like shrill vocalizations or biting), but she was really lonely and had been abandoned. Turns out she's freaking sweet as heck. When I was giving her fresh food earlier, she ran over, hopped on the dish while I was still holding it, and started "purring" to thank me. Honestly, I couldn't believe it. Oh, and when Mom had her cage on the floor while she was setting things up, Rosie called my dog, Teddy, over by making kissy sounds, then she tried to bite him on the nose. How adorable is that?
Oh, and she screams when there isn't at least two people in the family room with her. Like, fudge, she doesn't even know us yet she wants to be with us. Oh, and she makes clicking sounds and other silly vocalizations. The little brat got out of the cage while I was putting a bath in for her, and she flew right onto my shoulder! I swear, I thought she was going to peck out my eyes, but it turns out she's really gentle and extremely social. She flew around the family room, screaming, and landed on me several times. She kept going on top of the ceiling fan so I grabbed a piece of newspaper to lure her over since I know lovebirds like tearing strips off and sticking them in their feathers. Well, as soon as I picked up the newspaper she darted onto my shoulder and started tearing off strips of paper and tucking them in her back. They fell out immediately.
So...she's a wild-type, three years old, and is pretty cute. Her feathers look kind of dull, but that's probably from the nicotine. She smells pretty bad, so she's probably going to end up going through withdrawal. Seriously guys, don't smoke around animals.
