"Nayru" - Blue Crowned Conure; M
Hello all,
I have browsed the forums here for a while as a stranger, but recently I have welcomed a young Blue Crown Conure into my home. His name is Nayru! I also own a budgie, and have cared for several conures before, although this is the first med/sm parrot I have owned, so I figured it was time to become an official member in preparation for the info and experiences I will learn.
I purchased my BCC from a very helpful & caring breeder in OK, and then flew him home to PA. We went to a local avian veterinarian a few days later and he checked out great; minus several "stress bars/marks" on his wings and tail. He is about 4 months old and has been a great companion so far! He is a bit shy at first but quickly becomes a cuddly bird that loves being handled and pet. Though he can be a bit nippy, it looks like we'll still have some conditioning to do.

I have also had my green budgie, Rudra, for a few years now. He was the one who developed my interest in parrots and was my first "teacher" in the care and training of birds. Does not desire to be handled as much as a conure, but he has been a great companion and has broadened my knowledge.

There seems to be a lot of knowledge, diversity, and experience here, so I'm looking forward to being part of the community.
