Hello everyone,

I was so glad to find this forum! I am new to having birds at home but have been studying and enjoying birds in the wild for many years. This year my very supportive husband and I adopted a little Jenday conure (Jazz), a wild caught red lored Amazon (Zeke), and tonight are going to pick up a 5 year old Double Yellow Headed Amazon (Lilly) who has not been out of her cage for several years now. This has been absolutely a dream come true. I have so many questions and have enjoyed reading your posts and seeing so many kind and experienced people here. Everything has been going well (except the conure can't stand the sight of my husband) but there are some challenges on the horizon. Our little flock says hello!

Welcome, I also am relatively new and have enjoyed all the info and experiences with their birds including my own a UTOO,Cameo.

Welcome to the forum. We would love to see pics of your flock.:D

Welcome to a great forum. Yes Ville thinks that DYHA is the beautiest of all Amazon lol

Welcome to the forum!!! Would love to see pictures!

Thanks all! We'll get pictures tomorrow including the ever elusive, quite rare and awesome Supportive Husband!

Here are the photos as promised...minus the DYHA - sad story that might be posted tomorrow in the Adoptions/Re-Homing page. Jazz - funny and jealous Jenday Conure, Zeke, kind and inspiring wild caught Red Lored Amazon, D.J., Supportive Husband, and Niki, Displaced Psittacine Lover.

Welcome to the forum; your flock is amazing and your eyes are very stunning.
(Really you are very beatiful).. :)

My English language is poor but I have understood that Zeke has been captured;
have I understood right?
if the answer is "yes"
Is there the possibility to regive him the freedom?

Hello everyone,

a wild caught red lored Amazon (Zeke),!

Hey and welcome to the forum. Congrats on Jazz and Zeke. Are you here in the states ? Hope to see you and your flock around on the forum.

You're way too kind! But I'll take it!!! :) We live in North Dakota (for now), that photo was taken on our honeymoon, in Tambopata, in Peru, where there is on of the largest clay licks in the world. Super wonderful experience...

andreavizzuso - I've wondered that about Zeke too. Yes, he was caught over twenty years ago when importing wild birds was still legal in the U.S. It's really incredible to think about what he's been through to get all the way up here to the tundra of North Dakota. My dream is to provide an aviary large enough for him that he thinks he's back in the wild. :)

I posted in the adoptions section about our Friday night experience. It's here if anyone wants to check it out:
