Hi! I've never been a member of anything like this before and I have a question: My Yellow Naped Amazon has been displaying interesting, mating-like behaviour. I'm confused as to whether it is male or female. When I bought him at 5 months old, I was told he was a surgically sexed male. He is 19 1/2 now, and he is very into scraping his feet on the bottom of sacks and boxes, and once did the foot scratching on my body when he was under a blanket as I was reclining in a chair with the blanket over me. He also "comes on" to his bell, clucking tenderly to it. I hadn't noticed him trying to mount it; it was more like he was wooing it. In addition, I hadn't noticed, until tonight, that, as he was clucking while hanging out on my lap, he raised his tail. Otherwise, I've seen male-like behaviours: strutting with his wings out along the top of his cage, regurgitating to me, which I discourage. Please don't tell me I've a female after all this time!
