Sorry I have been away for awhile. You guys know the HOLIDAY season!!!
Since I last up-dated you all. He was trying to adjust. Well, I guess he has done that an some. Mr. Chino gives Mommy and Daddy kisses everyday in morning and before bed. He plays all the time with toys outside the cage. He is such a good boy he now eats veggies and greens (not huge amount but at least he is eating them) and he also eats his pellets. He lives to get out of the cage and onto the ottoman and have treats with mommy. He loves sunflower seeds. He is only allowed to have nine or ten seed pieces for treat and training time. I find that he seems to prefer my husband over me. That's fine with me. I do wish we could get him to step-up he seems to be truely afraid of hands. Let me know if you guys know anything that will be helpful with that. Otherwise, He is absolutely wonderful. Have a Merry Christmas and Happy holidays to you all.:green2::D

I tried REtraining my conure to step up with her favorite: sunflower seeds. She wouldn't have it. And THEN I found dried papaya. Worked like a charm for training. See if that works maybe?

Merry Christmas to you too! And to Chino!

I think our Quaker would fly through fire for Swiss Cheese or roast chicken! Our Blue Crowned conure LOVES cheerios and we have been able to teach him all sorts of things by using cheerios. Try finding the thing your bird loves and you will be able to teach him to step up easily. Quakers are super smart and cool birds!!!

I am really pleased that Chino is doing well:) It sounds like you are thrilled with him:)

Happy Holidays to you and Chino! Have you tried using a spare perch or length of wooden dowel for him to step up onto? Sometimes that works with parrots who are hand-shy. That's how I began step-up training with Ralph, and he quickly graduated to stepping right onto my hand.

Merry Christmas, Kwanzaa, Chanukah to all too, My lil bout to be fourth month old GQP loves him some safflowers seeds, oh and pumpkin seeds too. I got him eating hard boiled eggs, broccoli, mango & pomegranate... that boy will make his happy dolphin sound to get more- and if i'm eating dinner or an meal for that matter- Tuukee has gotten used to flock eating with me that now- i can't eat any meal without him lookin at me bobbing his head and telling me "Where's my Food?!?" My boyfriend laughs bc he says now i make two meals... Food for him and I and then Tuukee's foodie lol. I don't mind but it cracks me up. If you feed him while you're eating he'll be more inclined to eat all his foodie...
