Nice visit with Tucker

Congratulations!! Maybe even two?! Awesome. When I lost my friend I ended up with 4! Not what I had imagined either. I hope it works out as well for you as it did for me. :) :) :) :) A house full if love is always a good thing. Can't wait for more pictures.

Oh my stars I am in love with Tucker. Agree with all about those sweet Ekkie faces. And it really looks like he’s treating your son right. I’m so happy for you and for Tuck-tuck! And Miss Baxter.....?????

You've got the whole community excited for you and your household! My home unexpectedly became a 2 bird home as well. It wasn't what I'd imagined for my family at the time, but now I can't picture us without them both. Hoping Miss Baxter winds up being a good fit as well.

Funny you would call him Tuck Tuck. His previous owners called him that sometimes, and it's one of the things they listed in his vocabulary on the surrender form.

His vocab has increased in the short time at the refuge- he's picking up new phrases every day from the other birds, specifically the greys, and very clearly in their voices! Smart little boy...

As for Baxter, still trying to get my head around the idea of two, and the logistics of it all. I really want to do right by them and be able to give them the individual time they deserve. I did float the question of the two of them in the same home, compatibility wise. The response was that Baxter has never shown any aggression to any of the other birds, and Tucker, being so young, just goes with the flow. The only potential issue she saw was that they both REALLY LOVE their fresh veggies, so might cause a squabble over it.

I think that's manageable, since their cages would be situated on opposite sides of the living room. Don't know if Baxter is flighted or not, but Tucker is clipped right now. Flight ability would definitely play into the mix, at least for a while.

My wife would obviously prefer just one in the house (the birds are my thing), but she did actually ask me last night if I decided on one or two. Still unsure, in spite of what's going on in my heart. Really can't make the call until I know that Baxter will be good with her too. She's not as well versed in reading the body language, and tends to hold a grudge for a while if she gets a bite.

We'll take it as it comes. Either way, barring horrible weather here in Maine, Tucker comes home on Saturday!

Honestly I'd be lost without two fids. When Smokey passed away Amy and I were so depressed. I'm thrilled that Tucker is coming home with you..and Ms Baxter! Let the fun and games begin!! :D
