I had a really sick parrot who recently passed away. I had to towel her to give her meds every single day for 3-4 months. Some of the time 3 times a day. So I decided to take another route, and train my remaining parrots to take baby food in the syringe so hopefully when they get sick (if meds are necessary) I don’t have to towel them. My Mac daddy, and sun conure enjoy mango baby food. They were rather simple to train. Nico my Ekkie on the other hand is struggling. He’s not a fan of this. I give him sweet potatoes, carrot, and butternut squash baby food. I figured it would help with his all over health as well. He’s not a fan of chop, and an Ekkie diet can be perplexing especially when mine would prefer pellets, nutri-berries, and almonds over anything fresh. It’s like pulling teeth to get him to eat fresh food. If he doesn’t like something it goes in the water bowl, on the wall, or on the bottom of the cage. If anyone trains with parrots, and has some tips please do chime in. My Ekkie is a sensitive boy.

Great idea to be prepared in the event you need to give meds in the future! I admit, I'm woefully unprepared for that. My first ekkie, Patches, was on daily meds for his thyroid. Fortunately he was a pig when it came to food. I used to make a slice of cinnamon toast every morning, give him a tiny piece with his meds soaked into it, and he gobbled it right up. I didn't realize at the time how lucky I was! Current flock, the thought of getting meds into them is honestly kinda horrifying.
