I'm having a frustrating problem with Alice in that my main interest outside of feathered companions is music, and Alice seems to be utterly terrified of my violin. It seems to be the bow that is the problem: I can pluck the violin itself and she doesn't seem bothered, but as soon as I pick the bow up she's horrified. I tried going up to her to show her the bow today and she puffed up her feathers and retreated to the top of the cage. I'm used to people casting aspersions as to my musical ability, but it's a harsh critic indeed that retreats to the highest point of the room shivering uncontrollably!
Any ideas as to the best way to get her over this? I work in the violin trade so I do get to play at work, but I miss putting in a little practice in the evenings as well, and it'd be great if I can get her to put up with me a little. If I go into the next room to practice it means shutting the cage up, and I'd rather not play than decrease the time she gets out in the evening. My instinct is to keep playing for a few minutes each day and hope she gets used to it - but I don't want to stress her if that's not the best way to approach it.
