--PUMPKIN - male YS GCC. Hatched Halloween Day 2014. Came home Jan. 4, 2015. Started talking in July '15!

-BUTTERNUT- female TYS GCC Hatched in late Jan. 2016 and came home March 14, 2016
I woke up pretty early today, so maybe he was just tired, but Pumpkin wanted to cuddle. He usually just sits on my shoulder but this morning he was nudging my hand for cuddles and chirping happily. He started falling asleep and even rolled himself on his back for a few seconds. I'm hoping this means that he's not just hand tame, but that we are actually bonding. I want him to be my best little friend, and trust me completely. I know it's only been a month but I hope this is the start.

Thank you all for being so helpful! I don't know what I would do without all your help walking me through my first bird experience.

Aww, definitely some bonding happening there! How sweet!

Not only the cutest little Pumpkin in the patch but the sweetest too! Definitely bonding!

Aww..that's so sweet. I wish my SC would do that!

Hahaha he is a total sweet heart! I'm so glad to hear you all think he's bonding. I'm so excited.

My fiance who is absolutely NOT a bird person at all has even started to notice. He said that it was not really what he expected and maybe isn't so bad. He said he didn't think "the bird" would be as interested in me as "it" is. And has started asking to hold Pumpkin every once in a while. He's just winning him over with his charm.

Are suns just more independent?

Mine is. I think they are generally more cuddly than my Cisco. I know his wings used to be clipped. When I got him they were just growing out and he was starting to fly around (although very clumsily at first..lol). Now he flies alot and is very good at it. I'm not sure if him being able to fly makes him a little more independent or not. I know he loves to be on his playgym, sometimes moreso that being on me. He just doesn't really like much touching. We will have to work on this;)

For my BOF, I put her under my sweater, especially right after a shower. She loves the warmth and darkness. After a bit she pokes her head out. I wear a vest too and tuck her in the front. I have only had JoJo 6 weeks now, yes she is a bit older, 14 months-ish. But a sweetheart!

BOF? Bundle of feathers?

Gccs are very sweet birds. So glad pumpkin is bonding! A friend for life!

Yup, ya did it now, girl....you're now the proud mommy of a little green ball of velcro!! DON'T YA LOVE IT!!

So awesome, thats the greatest feeling when we finally get past that barrier!

I'm so glad he's bonding. I shouldn't say this but it so much more rewarding than my dogs that just love me from day one. I like that with birds you have to earn their respect and trust and affection. I DO LOVE IT! My very own velcro baby In the making. haha

I has the same experience with my partner. I had to fight tooth and nail to get my Sun Zazu. My partner throught birds are like fish... no feelings, no personality, he was so not interested. 3 months on, and I come home every day and they're out in the garden together, and he brings Zazu to bed for cuddle once and a while, he's even started potty training him!

But he gets jealous when Zazu runs to me and wants to cuddle me and not him, now he's talking about getting a bird of his own! Give your man some more time, he'll warm up even more :D

Haha thanks for the comment! It's already happening. Before pumpkin Tyler thought "the bird" won't care about people and will just be a loud messy fish with a huge cage taking up space and making his life a living nightmare. But now he asks to hold him and has admitted it's not that bad. He's willing to help out with him already and even mentioned him getting his own bird. Haha that's not gonna happen for a while....

Pumpkin is for sure bonding with you. My Sun Conure loves to cuddle. It is so cool when you see your bond with them growing.

I have had my pineapple green cheek for a few days now. He didn't take really any time to settle in.... he always wants to be on me or my husband all the time. When we try to put him in his cage he will fly right back to us. Always wants to cuddle and nibble... but I know they are considered nippy. He's the best edition to our home and he's already our little buddy :)

Congrats Ann, it's good to hear another green cheek owner is having success and bonding :) It gives me hope that at some point my little gruff man will come out of his "pet store breeder bird" habits and really allow me to love on him. He wants me all the time, but no touchy stuff. No fingers. Fingers get nailed. And yet he HAS to be with me and on me sometimes or he won't stop hollering plaintively from wherever I put him for the moment. I look forward to the day I can pet that little head and cuddle with him. Send some of that magic over to me please ;)
