So I went to PetSmart to get bird food for my Keet and there was a GCC there! I pet him and he was in the middle of the cage and i was like "hey bud" and he came over! I pet him (he loved head scritches) and he wouldn't let go of my finger! Wasn't a death grip, more like a I'm-checking-you-out beaking. He even stepped up! I'm Sooo in love with these birds now <3 so hopefully, I'll be able to get one soon!!
Also I was blabbing my head off to my mom about them and she has this fakey smile on the whole time saying "Did he?" I wanted to ask if I could get one, but I was afraid she'd say no!! Not that she would, but I was scared for fear of it lol

Take care!

I love all ghe conures in that family, black capped, vermilion bellies, painted, maroon belly. All are so amazing and beautiful, and beat of all they're quieter than the other conures.

Yeah that too! He was quiet! He was VERY interested in me tho.

Would this be an appropriate cage for a GCC? Making a list of the stuff ill need

If the bird is to spend portions if the day in there, I would say it's too small. 18 inches either way (width or depth) is pretty narrow. If the bird is to stay out all day and only sleep in there, then I suppose it would be acceptable. The pic makes it look big, but he numbers don't lie. :)

There's never an issue with asking ;). The only fear you should have is nagging over and over, it's a guarantee for a "no".

The best option for a Green Cheek is a stainless steel cage. However I've seen that cage in person and it seems pretty sturdy, but you should get a second opinion. The other thing you should worry about is the fall down. Birds like the highest part of the cage and its a pretty long fall if your bird gets a night fright, for example.

Could you give me some cheap-ish examples? The cage is going to be in my room, but ill most likely keep him out with me and downstairs, etc.
What could cause a nighy fright? In my room i haveba night light, will this prevent it? Im especially worried about thunderstorms, as my house has no trees to block the wind, and that can get scary. Is there any way i could prevent night frights?

A bad dream could cause a night fright, or anything that might startle them awake.
Just my two cents.

The general rule of thumb as I understand, is that the width/depth should be at least twice as wide as the wingspan of the bird. That second cage looks better..if you're looking to save it doesn't hurt to look on craigslist, pet stores that carry used, or even local garage sales. As long as it's thoroughly cleaned and disinfected, and in good condition, it's fine. :)

Aw I hope you do get one!!! :D They are amazing!

The cheapest I was able to find were about 150-250 with the sale. I'll try find the ones I were going to get. But stainless steel cages are quite tricky, most are way too small but are pretty much the only option.

Night frights are usually because of sudden movements or sounds. So covering the cage is a must, and it helps with the cold. Another option for a night light is to put a glow stick under the grate (make sure your bird won't be able to get it).

Smaller cages would be more acceptable ONLY for sleeping uses - like a "table top cage". However, in the day time when your'e away, you should have him in the largest cage you have.

Keep in mind also, night frights are rare, especially in conures. They're more common in tiels. In the years I've had birds (40) I've never had a bird who had night frights.
