Hello everyone,
I’ve actually been a member here since around 2016, but I was never very active back then. Life got busy, work became overwhelming, marriage happened, and before I knew it… years had passed.
Before getting married, I used to raise all kinds of animals and birds — cats, dogs, parrots, finches, and many other species. Animals were always a huge part of my life and honestly one of the few things that could completely disconnect me from stress.
Now, after 6 years of marriage and becoming a father to three kids (two daughters and a son), I found myself slowly returning to that passion again.
Recently, I started building a small rooftop garden project at home here in Saudi Arabia. Since we live in a big city and most kids nowadays grow up surrounded by screens and electronics instead of nature, I wanted my children to experience something real — caring for animals, planting things, collecting eggs, and learning patience and responsibility through living creatures instead of tablets and phones.
What started as a small setup became a much bigger family hobby.
We now have a rooftop aviary with canaries, goldfinches, white-rumped seedeaters, finches, and other small birds. I also built a small chicken area so my kids can experience raising chickens and collecting eggs themselves. There’s also a rabbit, a semi-aquatic turtle, plants, and a small fountain that gives the whole rooftop a peaceful atmosphere.
Somewhere during all of this… I realized how much I missed parrots.
That feeling eventually brought me back to the parrot world again, and today our newest family member arrived — a Double Yellow Head Amazon.

I’m here mainly to reconnect with other bird lovers, learn more, share experiences, and hopefully make new friendships with people who genuinely enjoy this lifestyle.
I also want to start using my camera again and take more photos of my birds and projects. Between work pressure and daily responsibilities, this hobby became my way of slowing down a little and remembering how to smile again.

I’ve finally decided to make a post here because I’m starting a new journey with a Double Yellow-Headed Amazon and wanted to learn from people who have real long-term experience with them
I’m not completely new to Amazons in general.
Over the years I’ve owned and raised Blue-fronted Amazon and Yellow-crowned Amazon before, in addition to being a long-time owner and breeder of African Grey Parrot parrots.
