Ollie is not doing well.

Getting some fresh air and light while enjoying a millet coma.
Ollie outside time.webp

I’m not seeing the head tilt in the picture.

One of my cockatiels developed symptoms like you have described.
Her name was Lady.
Head tilt.
Not able to perch.
Walking around in circles.
The vet recommended euthanasia and I could not stand to see her suffer.

I hope you have better luck.

Thank you. It's rather strange because he seems normal until he isn't. It's almost like his neck gets stuck. When I pick him up and set him upright and straighten his head out and calm him down he's okay again but still unstable. He only had one back flopping episode today as opposed to yesterday, which was awful. I also think the crooked looking up to one side is much less pronounced. I wish they had birdie chiropractors.
I'm sorry about your sweet Lady bird :(

Watching her walking in circles must have been awful. I would have done the same as much as I hate doing it.

How is Ollie?

He didn't get stuck on his back yesterday at all but is still not gripping normally. His neck is still out of whack as well. But he has spent the last two nights shredding toys and trying to escape. He eats and poos. I wish I could give him flying time but he walks into things like a drunk old blind man. I can't see him landing safely.

Ollie appears to be getting worse. Last night I couldn't get him to stay upright on his own. Despite his protesting, I held him upright in my lap for about half an hour, and he was able to perch again after that. I can't just let him struggle on his back if he isn't able to stay upright. He's on his feet right now looking at me but I don't know if he's going to have another episode like last night. I don't want him to suffer.

It's a very difficult decision because in between the episodes he eats, and preens, and chews his cuddle bone. He does this with a crooked neck. He doesn't seem to be suffering at these times. But when he's having an episode he's very much distressed.

I’m so sorry to hear about Ollie! Praying that he bounces back and recovers to his cheeky self 🙏. Animals can amaze us with their resilience. I had a little chicken rooster who lost coordination and couldn’t even lift his head to eat. I had him propped up with towels and was helping him eat and drink. I was so torn on whether or not I should just end his suffering. But then, after a few days, he slowly started to rally. It took a month or two for him to fully recover and one of his wings remained unusable, it was always held tight to his side so he couldn’t flap it. But that little rooster lived happily for I think almost two more years.
Of course, we never, ever want our animals to suffer and we have a responsibility to them. But only you know your little guy. Follow your heart on whether or not Ollie wants to keep fighting. Sometimes the smallest ones are the biggest fighters! Keeping you and Ollie in my prayers ❤️

He is a fighter for sure. I couldn't believe he was still trying to bite me last night when I had him supported upright during that episode. He's always been feisty. I wanted him to have a friend, even if they couldn't share castles, because he brightens up at seeing any other bird or hearing them.
A month ago I visited a lovely little lady birdie. I've been setting up her castle. She will be weaned and coming home 8/16.
The good news is that I can properly quarantine now because I just moved. The bad news is, I'm not sure Ollie is going to make it that long. Maybe he will rally. I just hope if he goes, he goes peacefully. He spent a quiet morning outside on the deck listening to the birds and getting fresh air. Right now he's sleeping cuddled up with his millet.

Yes she's a Linnie. They are hard to find so I was very lucky to find her only an hour away. There was a long waiting list (I was 12th) as well but somehow it got all the way to me so I jumped at the chance.
