Cookie has been with me for 2 days and came from an abusive home and since about this morning he has wanted nothing to do with me accept for treats. So I was sitting by his cage and putting my hand near the bars and he fluffed up and pushed his head against the bars... I didn't know what what this meant so I just put my hand on his fluffed up head and started giving him a head scratch and he loved it ! I stopped because I was kindof in awe but he kept begging for more so I tried again and he loved it ! I am soooo excited !

Awww...congrats...that's a great sign!!

Does this mean that the taming process will go a little faster than expected ? Since this is all moving so fast.

Just let him set the pace, don't worry about how long it'll take or how it's going, just go with the flow. If tomorrow he wants to sit by himself, don't see it as a rejection, just leave him be. The day after, he might want smoochies.

Awesome! Sometimes a zon will experience something of "love at first sight" with a new owner. Sounds like Cookie was meant to be with you:D

Aww that's awesome!! Congrats! Just remember this is a first step. Take it slow still so you don't break the trust. ;)

Patience....and more patience, your doing good, but don't let your guard down just yet. There may be mood swings so don't get discourage, they test you, just don't act scared ever, even if you get bit. Training is what you feel comfortable with, and the bird feels comfortable with.

Sometimes a neglected bird can make a really amazing pet. These birds are really, really smart. I think a person who gives them a good life after a life of deprivation can become, in their mind, their rescuer.

YYYAAAYYY!!!! All good signals in my book. I got my Buddy, a 24 yo GCA, after my cousin passed as well as her Husband. Her son contacted us and asked me to take Buddy, he was with the pound after the police were called out. Long story short, Buddy tried to stuff his head between the cage bars when we met. Not thinking I just reached over and scratched the top of his head. That was the winning mood!!! It sounds like you're in and accepted in his club, lol.
