Check out Coconut’s tail LOL.

This is what he has done to his tail so far while trying to learn how to fly. His flight feathers have still not fully grown in so his flying skills are a little ummmm… disastrous. It is SUPER FUNNY when his tail flips forward into his face and he starts preening his tail… it looks so bizarre LOL.

I predict in a couple more weeks and he will no longer have a tail at all haha... every couple days he breaks yet another tail feathers oh my goodness. Then I will have to rename him "duck butt"

... or maybe he wants to become a peacock??

Ya, poor 'Nut! A couple of the pictures I didn't even know what I was looking at! Clothes going this way and that..couldn't locate his little head!
BB's tail is still fully intact,and he preens the heck out of it. Still trys to fly but doesn't get very far,and I haven't found any new evidence of him stripping,except a couple fluff feathers.

LOL… he kind of looks like a porcupine because when he moves his tail feathers stick up all over the place… he kind of looks like he’s got bad static or perhaps electrocuted? He doesn’t have any adult tail feathers yet because they all have the yellow female bars on the underneath of each tail feather. Hopefully by the time he grows in his adult tail feathers he will be able to fly properly

He just sprouted 2 new flight feathers last week… so he’s making progress .. but I have never seen such a tail on a tiel before haha.

I like the look of his tail...he's a wild rock star

Suddenly his tail looks slightly more "normal" because several of the broken tail feathers fell off... so now he's rocking the swallow look instead

LOL... Coconut's flying has been improving slightly as he now makes an effort to not crash..but he still every so often flys straight into the wall... holy smokes it's dangerous. I hope he doesn't have vision problems???? Because he could have VERY easily not flown straight into the wall... is this normal for a tiel to do? I highly doubt he would do this if he was able to properly fly.

I'm really trying to not let him fly until his flight feathers are more grown in but that's very difficult to do.

Rascal is ALWAYS napping LOL.

why not encourage him to fly to you or his stand? You may be able to get a better picture ie eye sight or flying ability.

Those are some disheveled feathers for sure! LOL! Poor guy. Hope he gets the hang of it soon.

He kind of already does that on his own. He always flys onto my shoulder from the cage... so I guess he can see well enough. It's just so bizarre he sometimes flys into the wall for no reason.. when he does that it really looks like he can't see well.

I'm going to start training him to fly onto my hand when I call him. When I say "Coconut come here" he jumps right onto my shoulder he already knows what it means

I will keep increasing the distance... right now he only jumps onto my shoulder not my hand. He FINALLY realizes he can't fly through mirrors so I'm proud of him LOL

EDIT: Sorry nevermind what I just posted. I'm hoping Coconut is just extremely clumsy because he's a baby and was never given the chance to develop skills and coordination because the stupid breeder bucthered his wings so sevrely he would just drop like a rock... so this flying thing is very new to him. He never even had a chance to safely glide to the floor because of how badly his wings were clipped. Time will tell if this problem persists.

EDIT AGAIN: OMG!!! Why does my browser (firefox) CONSTANTLY... and I do mean CONSTANTY ALWAYS freeze when I'm on this forum? It's driving me insane!! Anyone else have this problem? I'm forced to type my response in notepad and then paste it... I can't even type my response otherwise firefox freezes It's only happening when I'm on this forum. Strange :52:

I am impressed with Coconut today LOL

He has been making a conscious decision to find SAFE places to land... no crashes at all today. Maybe there is hope afterall haha.
