Cinderella-white and blue female budgie hatched 4/08/12

When I went to go pick up the cage for my daughter's parakeet the woman was the same woman who I had gotten my favorite cockatiel from. We got to talking and she now breeds green cheeks. So ofcourse I was on her list for a baby by the time I got back to the car. My husband was...quite confused when I told him we were getting a green cheek baby. He didn't even put up a fight, just asked me if they were louder than JJ. He said if it was louder than definetely not but I told him they weren't so he's fairly ok with it now.

The baby won't be home for awhile she is giving her breeders back their nest boxes soon and than ofcourse have to wait for eggs than babies, than wait for them to wean. So I have time to make a conure room for JJ and the new addition. But I am first on her list so have top pick of whichever baby I want.

Congratz! I simply love GCC. I actually breed them myself :) They are just the sweetest little birds. They love to be cuddled and played with. Do you know what your going to name him/her?

no we don't know yet. We have a criminal minds theme going with our pets right now so probably would be named Ele or Prentiss, or maybe even Reid. Not sure we'll know once we see the baby.

Congrats, post lots of pics when you get your baby. And a side not if you don't know this already, gcc babies when they are a few months old go through mood swings and screaming phases so be prepared. I'm dealing with three 13 week olds right now and they like me one day and want to kill me the next. You have to make sure you don't let them become dominant at this stage otherwise they will become like my male Sully who thinks he is a macaw and thinks he can kill me.:D

No I didn't know that, thank you. I am pretty good at not letting JJ push me around when she gets in her moods though. I am hoping by the time the new baby is home I will have tons of conure experience with JJ and be more apt to be able to deal with the additude, lol.

Please don't name it Reid, I'm kinda in love with Reid and don't want it taken by a gcc xD!

I didn't realise that JJ was from criminal minds, I now love the name a little more.

I think Ell would be good, because then you have 'letter names' JJ/L, etc, but obviously that depends on male/female too!

Call it Rossi.

I vote for Reid. He is my favorite character on one of my favorite tv shows Criminal Minds. Congrats on being first on the list to get the baby of your choice. very exciting. Alison and sweetie pie:D

Congrats! That is very exciting. Green cheeks are not nearly as noisy as Sun's. So your husband should be fine. I love your name idea's. Fun stuff!!!

Yeah we have a huge criminal minds theme with our pets it's our favorite show right now. We have a saltwater tank we have a goby named Giddeon we have a pair of clownfish named Morgan and Garcia, we're getting a flame angel and naming it Hotch, than we have JJ our sun conure and have to decide on a new name for the conure when he or she comes home. Ofcourse the parakeet won't have a criminal minds name because it's my daughters but that's ok. My daughter is thinking of the name Cinderella for her bird...

I vote for Reid, call your conure Dr. Reid.

Why I haven't think of naming our pets based on the Criminal Minds characters, why it is always my 6 y.o. daughter have the right to name the pets?! Would you believe that I can't stop calling Hotch - Greg, from his old tv show Darma & Greg.

LOL usually our kids have different names for our animals. Our cat's name is Sheila except our kids each have a different name for her and she answers to all 3 names.

Haha, I do the same thing I will call people their names from previous shows.

I went to the other event in Md. today. It was a wonderful class sponsored by Phoenix Landing. Speaker was a world re-nouned avian vet with last name of Vansant. She lives in northern CA. I have learned so much. Some of which contradicts what I have already learned. Example full spec. lighting is a waste of money. Not effective. She says to get our birds outside as often as possible any way we can. Absolutely no junk food. It builds up lipids very fast, especially in greys and macaws. She has a 40 year old Molulccan too. She believes the longevity of our birds lives are much shorter than what we have read.

Booo no beer was served.
