Gilbert Oliver, Blue Crown Conure; Georgie, Sun Conure (2/8/01-8/8/12) RIP little girl; Percy, budgie 1993-1999. RIP Pepito-spanish timbrado canary
A very strange thing happened in my house over the weekend. I have this gorgeous pendant/chandelier I bought in December for my kitchen.
It is galvinized metal with hanging wires covered in fabric (kind of looks like old knob and tube wiring which my house used to have before upgrading it) and mason jars hanging from the wire. With 16 jars and clear light bulbs, it makes a fabulous glow in the kitchen. i LOVE this fixture!

On the weekend i heard an explosive crash when one of the jars came flying down and hit the granite counter and EXPLODED glass all over my kitchen!!! Seriously, the jar that fell is where Gilbert eats his meals every day!!! I was just dumbfounded and grateful that no one was in the kitchen at the time and nothing was damaged (except the jar).

I called customer service about the ordeal yesterday and while i was on the phone, Gilbert was trying like mad to get my attention. He was chattering non-stop and AGAIN i heard him yell out: "you're a good boy!!"

I started laughing and had to apologize to customer service. Of course they could hear Gilbert chattering the whole time but that was just so funny. I will have to set up a camera when i leave the room and "ignore" him deliberately to get him on video saying this. ;) Sneaky.

And in the end, i'm getting a new light fixture sent to me because obviously i received a defective item! A little hassle, but in the end, we are all safe and it will be replaced for free.

Gilbert sounds adorable! He may be similar to my Lolly who loves a phone conversation or even listening to two people converse. She mumbles the entire time I'm on the phone. Gary thinks she might have lived in someone's office -- I figure one of her previous owners must have spent a LOT of time talking on the phone.

That light fixture sounds really unique. Any place to see pictures of something similar online?

I bought it at Pottery Barn. It is called the Exeter 16 jar pendant i think. :) it's BEAUTIFUL and luckily Pottery Barn customer service is excellent. I haven't had problems with their stuff before this, and boy was this potentially a huge problem!

And yeah, i often talk on speaker phone, normally to friends and family, and Gilbert will walk up to the phone and excitedly listen to the voices coming out. LOL

That is a gorgeous fixture, to go with a gorgeous kitchen! I love a pretty light fixture. Gilbert sounds so cute I would love to have a blue crown conure! They are so smart and beautiful too!

Fiji loves to sit on my shoulder when I'm on the phone! He chatters away, sounding like he's in the conversation. Birds are so funny!

Birds are hilarious. People who don't get to really know and love a bird are missing out. Yes, they are a huge responsibility but they are so rewarding.

and i also LOVE a good light fixture. my kitchen is so old fashioned and rather than go about updating it, i tried to work with the old style, so the canning jars were a cool touch.

Very nice light fixture!!!! And beautiful kitchen!!! We're gutting our kitchen in two years as we've got a timeline to do this, next year a new driveway and sidewalk plus new flooring and bar for living room(last room with carpet), then the kitchen of our dreams.

Back to yapping birds subject...lol....Willie will NOT let my partner talk on the phone, he will scream hell, I think he does it on purpose....lol....Cause he rarely ever do it with me but he does it every time to my partner....BUT if Willie hears the phone ring, it can be regular phone, ringtone, doesn't matter and he can tell the difference and say "Hello". Even when it's on TV he'll do it...lol....

Bosley always either tries to talk over me or regurgitates for me when I'm on the phone,
He even tried to mimic a phone ringing. LOL

hahaha!! Crazy birds. My Georgie used to squawk every time i tried to speak if not to her (whether it be on phone or with company). If i paused and looked at her, silence, then i would start to speak, squawking. Repeat as needed, LOL

Wow, that's a beautiful kitchen and I love the light those glass jars reflect on the ceiling. It looks like ripples of clear water.

I would have loved to have seen your face when Gilbert was talking while you were on the phone. AND the face of customer support of Pottery Barn. :D

That kitchen is STUNNING!!! I LOVE that fixture! It looks fantastic!!!

We have the same situation. Tosia (CAG) could be quiet for the whole day but once I am on the phone she'll start talking and whistling:-)
