My macaw celebrates his 51st Gotcha Day on September 9! Notable events in 1974: Patty Hearst kidnapping, Watergate scandal, Nixon resigned, Valdez oil spill and Kabuki came to live with me!

I'm dating myself but I recall all of these events of 1974 except for Kabuki's Gotcha Day of course! It's hard to believe it was over a half century ago.

I got to talk to Otto on the phone yesterday! My Dad said he ran to the phone upon hearing my voice. First thing he said to me was, "There's my pretty bird." and then wolf whistled and repeated "Pretty pretty pretty pretty..." He started calling me "Pretty" or "pretty pretty" on his own soon after learning the word. It was so nice to hear his little voice!
