I am excited to introduce Adrian! We didn't have her DNA sexed but we are going with female until we learn otherwise. Either way, the name works :) my hand is currently quite sore and has several welts from being bitten so hard but we'll get there. She's on 2 hand feedings a day. I wanted to hand feed to help with the taming process. She eats really well for me but is very nippy otherwise. Anyway, here's the picture, as promised!

Beautiful! I absolutely love the lutino mutation in birds :). Such a bright pretty color.

I used to have 2 birds named Adrian too! One male spelled like that, one female Adrion. They both passed. I think it was a bad luck name for ME personally :(

Thank you! I find the yellow to be so cheerful. Hoping to break the awful biting asap because it's much more painful than my GCC. I don't react to it at all but would certainly prefer to not be bitten in the first place. Trying to distract with toys but I think that will work better once she is acclimated to the new surroundings. I don't want to rush it. Sorry to hear of your bad luck with the name! Hopefully that is not the case here lol.

I'm sure the name won't affect you. I think it was just coincidence with me, but just being superstitious lol.
Give her time to settle in. You can start training after she gets her bearings :). You can try gently touching her top beak and say "gentle" in a calm tone. Look at her and say firmly but calmly "No biting". Then "gentle"... holding your finger just out of reach. This I found is a good way to "bite pressure train" a smaller bird. I actually learned the basis of this from a well known Eclectus breeder. It has worked for me. They're smart and they "get it". If they STILL bite, it's not because they don't know what you mean. There's more training techniques for problem biters, but as a young baby, it shouldn't have to get to that point! Keep in mind too, that a young baby will do a lot of "beaking" not real biting. If it is too hard, then I'd recommend the steps above. :)

Just an fyi... At times you will also hear Birdman666 speak of bite pressure training, but he does it in a different way for Macaws.

Adrian is just beautiful. Love her color.

Thank you all for the compliments and for the tips, RavensGryf.

So cute! Love the name :) though it is weird to see a female bird with this name when my little brother also has the same name haha. We used to tease him by calling him Adriana ;P But nonetheless the name really does suit her!

Thank you! Haha your poor brother. I have a brother named Jesse that we called Jessica and one named Judah that we called Judy ;) I think Adrian suits her too!

LOL! Ahhh your brothers names are much more tease-worthy! Hahaha, poor boys. My husbands fathers name was Jody so you can imagine what people did with that ;)

No worries! Congratulations! She really is gorgeous :)

Thank you!

Oh yes, in a family of 8 kids you become a teasing expert! Thank you for the compliment, I agree she is beautiful!

a osborne, funny seeing you on here! I'm Agatha the chickens mom! I was there when you got your new baby! I'm sorry your fingers are sore, remember try to distract with toys and with some millet. Glad you went with that name!

Omg! Hello! So funny finding you here too :) so far she's not wanting to take anything from my hand except maybe a finger lol. She picked a little at her seed but hand fed really well. I have faith! I'm so glad you are on this forum. Now you can see her progress!

Isn't it a SMALL Birdie World ?? LOL What are the Odds ?

@GW.Joe, it sure is! Very neat.

Adrian is gorgeous! I love the bright yellow colour in birds:) Hopefully she will stop nipping you soon:) Please keep the pictures & updates coming!

Thanks, Terry57. I will keep updating! So far, not so good. Nothing seems to distract her from biting me.

Minor improvement update (because minor is better than nothing): Adrian let me pet her beak through the bars of the cage. She will eat millet from my hand but only a strand of it, not chunks directly from my palm or fingers. I have noticed her picking more from her food dish today as well as climbing a little more. Yesterday she mostly sat in the same place the whole day. My husband has to hand feed her tonight while I'm at work so we'll see how that goes ;)
