Paper?

Suki loves shredding toys. So I'm getting creative and making a whole heap of paper toys for her. My question is. Is newspaper ok for her to shred? Given it has ink and stuff? Are there any types of paper or cardboard I should avoid using for her shredding toys?

I've made paper cranes and so far she loves killed her papery bird friends haha.

a few of my birds loved shredding paper but i stopped them years ago
because my amazon almost choked on a small piece, and definetly no newspaper,
give her some playing cards to tear up she would like the different patterns.

Mine loves construction paper and cardboard.

I actually just started making those origami "water bombs" out of different colored construction paper and then filling them with shredded construction paper and little treats. Scout loves throwing them around and foraging

So summary. No newspaper. But other paper and cardboard is fine? Yay. Suki absolutely adored stripes of paper tied to her cage.

Or her favourite treat wrapped up in paper then tied to the cage roof.

Emmett loves shredding paper! Just want to warn everyone about making your own shredder like the one pictured below. Be sure to buy plain paper not receipt paper. Receipt paper contains high levels of toxic bisphenol A (BPA). BPA is a substance that interferes with your hormonal system and has been linked to a variety of problems from heart disease to testicular damage. If it can do that to you, imagine what it can do to your bird! I don't take receipts anymore. I either tell them to keep it (if I don't need it) or have them put it in the bag. Yuck!

I was told Phone books were okay for them to chew up..I hung one by zip ties on the side of Cosmos cage and he really likes it.

I couldn't find that exact toy, but they sell something similar at My Safe Bird Store.

My bird LOVES this stuff too- I cut off a short piece and weave it through the bars of his cage, and he'll pull it out and carry it around all day, dunking it in his water and pulling it into his bed with him.
