Parakeet Eating Wood Kabob?

I bought one of those shred-able toy for my bird and I just noticed that my bird doesn't just shred it but eat it.
Should I take this thing out before it causes any trouble?

It would probably be a good idea to remove it if your bird is eating it. In small amounts it's probably ok but large amounts I imagine wouldn't be very healthy.
