Parakeet potty trained itself

My parakeet always wants off when I’m playing with her occasionally and she’ll get on a perch away from my finger and go to the bathroom. Is this good behavior that she taught herself how to do that, or is it because there is still a lack of trust and she doesn’t trust me while she is pooping?

I think that is good! It may be just because that is where she is used to going--Maybe it's like using the restroom in an airplane vs your home toilet lol! I know which one I prefer. I don't think it has anything to do with trust, if that helps!

Enjoy not being pooped on while you can. I agree with noodles123 that it's most likely the preferred place to poop. I know all of my birds have a preference on where they poop. Not that it stops them from pooping on us, the floor, the furniture, in the water dish, in the food or anywhere else the mood strikes. So enjoy being poop free while you can.

Yeah, now that I think of it she is sort of a diva, maybe pooping on my finger is for peasant birds (of which she is not). Glad to know it’s not a lack of trust but just she wouldn’t want to poop on her favorite piece of furniture.
