Aphrodite - red throated conure (RIP)
It’s a relaxing day out on the porch in the woods, and the Doodles wanted to join. So he’s doing his little doodle thing.

Obligatory disclaimer: you’ll note Parker is outside without a harness. If your bird is clipped l, DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS. Parker is a barberer who has chewed up all flight and tail feathers, so is incapable of flight. Clipped birds still have flight feathers so can still potentially get lift; Parker has NO feathers at all.

I just love Parker. That last shot is the best. Just so playful and funny. I know he has his challenges, but he really seems just so happy. I'm glad he's with you. I recall his former name, and it just makes me glad to know he has had such a change in life and lifestyle.

Oh Porker...not a nice name *sigh*

Such kind words, thanks Gail. I agree, I’m glad he found us. I do have some guilt about him spending a bit more time in cage since we’ve become Rover dog sitters, but we need that income.

Chris, Parker looks so happy! Great pictures of him.
And your yard looks amazing! Is that your pool in the background? It looks like such a peaceful place.

Thanks Terry! Yep, that’s my pool. It’s ubdergoing renovation right now. It was built in the 70s and hasn’t been updated at all. There’s not even plaster, it’s just paint on concrete. And the tiles were falling off.

Here’s a pano from the porch Parker and I were on

WOW! I am drooling, your yard is like something from a dream. I feel peaceful just looking at the pictures, I can only imagine how it feels to see this every day.
Looking forward to seeing the pool when the renos are done, too!

It’s WORK. Little chance to actually enjoy it. That pool? Yeah, that pool set back into the woods...that collects all sorts of crap falling from the trees, making algae a bigger issue than most pools.

And the frogs. We won’t go down there at night, because frogs take it over.

What beautiful shots of Parker! He looks so happy hanging out there with you!

And I agree about your backyard. Nice woodsy feel. I'm sure Parker feels one with nature.

I hadn't even thought of things falling into the pool from the trees, that would definitely not be fun. Maybe a cool enclosure when doing the reno?
The frogs made me think of some B horror movie, picturing people being swallowed by them. I bet they are quite loud.

Yeah people with no pool don;t realize how much work and $$$ they take up.
My above ground's been closed for 3 years - the dozen goldfish I bought to keep the 'skeeters down are now 3 dozen. And worst part - I never used it but 3-4 times a year.

There used to be an occasional frog in my cousins' pool when I was a kid - it, too was surrounded by woods - and swamps not too far away. The funny thing was my cousin Chane even dove like a frog!
