So, did anybody see the story about the parrot who was arrested in Brazil for allegedly warning his drug dealing owners of an imminent police raid?
Apparently, said parrot yelled " Mama mama polizia" when he saw the police pull up outside.

The parrot was taken to a local wildlife center and will be charged.

Ha ha, you can't make this stuff up.

I know they (drug dealers) in Colombia trained parrots to yell Police when they saw them.

It is now illegal to own parrots in Colombia, don't know if the 2 are related.

I have in-laws in Colombia so I know what I am talking about. Mother-in-law had her parrots taken away after having them for more than 30 years.:17:

She's not a drug dealer;)

I prefer my parrots to tell me if kisses are about to happen...seems more family friendly....

Oh, I am sure he won't. It was just so cute seeing him taken into custody on the hand of the polizia!

At first I thought the whole story was just cute and funny.... but as I think about it, I feel bad for the poor Amazon... he's going to live in a zoo and lose his family... I hope they take good car of him... he looked scared in the video... such a cute, sweet thing.

I know how you feel. But, what kind of family did he have? Drug dealers. I hope they didn't just have him as a warning bird. Maybe he will find love in the zoo with another Amazon and have cute little baby birds!

Apparently they want to release him to the nature.. I think is not a super good idea but well..

Jose :)

Gives new meaning to this Andy Griffith episode with Gomer Pyle yelling,
"Psittacines Arrest!, Psittacines Arrest!..."

As was previously said, can't make this stuff up. Parrots' abilities really do make them uniquely vulnerable to some weird situations......................

That's what Colombia is doing with the birds they take away from the owners.

They go to a half-way-house and in theory train them how to live in the wild.

Reminds me of the CAG who's owner was found murdered in his home, and the CAG started acting-out the sequence of events that went on between his owner and the person who murdered him, which happened to be a relative of the man...The CAG was using his owner's voice when saying his words (or rather his "lines"), and he kept saying the murderer's name in the conversation of them yelling back and forth...They used the CAG in court as evidence and the murderer was convicted...

Damn birds don't let you get away with ANYTHING!!!
