Hi everyone. I’m curious if you have any parrot book recommendations? They could be an informative resource, or just a beautiful coffee table type book. After @LaManuka posted the Australian parrot poster in another thread yesterday, I pulled out this beautiful book that I found at a tiny bookstore in Australia last year. It was on sale, & looked like it had been there for some time. After getting back to my Airbnb, I looked it up and found that it is actually an out of print book that is difficult to find. It’s full of beautiful art plates of parrots, & one of the best souvenirs I’ve ever brought home. I’d post some pictures of some of the plates, but not sure if that would be a copyright thing? Anyway, I’d love to hear if you have any recommendations. 😊

Wow, @nkrbkr, what a jewel of a find you made at that book shop, I'm seeing copies of it for sale online at around the $600 to $700 USD mark!! I haven't bought a bird book in a while, but the last one I got was "Birds Of The Photo Ark", released through National Geographic. And when my hubby and I first got together way back sometime last century, we discovered we both had a copy of "Every Australian Bird Illustrated" - guess some things were just meant to be, huh? ;)

Thank you, I’ll look those up! Must be a good book, if you both had it. 😊 Yes, such a score! I bought that book for I think 35 AUD! 🤯

Clearly that book shop didn't know what a rare gem they had. Bargain of the century right there!!!

I have tons of bird book recommendations! Most of them aren't specifically parrot-related, but they're all great regardless:
-Alex & Me (Irene Pepperberg)
-Of Parrots and People (Mira Tweti)
-Birding Without Borders (Noah Strycker)
-Among Penguins (Noah Strycker)
-The Thing With Feathers (Noah Strycker)
-What It's Like to be a Bird (David Allen Sibley)
-H is for Hawk (Helen Macdonald)
-How To Know The Birds (Ted Floyd)

If I think of more, I'll update this list :)

Check out public libraries. A few have bargain basements. They are getting rid of books as they go digital. I've found several beading, crochet, favorite novels and bird books. Most are out of print.
