One of our dogs, mighty Riley has been through 5 days of pure agony!
Day 1 bouts of extremely loose bowls, and because of back surgery 4 years ago, his control isn't perfect! Day 2 no improvement. Day 3 something majorly wrong, he was in tremendous pain! Off to an emergency clinic, they stabilized him, X-rays showed perforated intestines and something foreign in there. $850 later, we then brought him into our amazing Dr Geiler, multiple hour surgery to repair the damage and flushing poisons out of his stomach! He is now back at the ER on intravenous antibiotics to fight the infections from the seepage!
The object? A plastic graduation hat the size of a penny! It had very sharp edges. Our daughter just graduated nursing last week, and this looks like one of those little sticky things that you get on a card!

I must add, yesterday was Dr. Geiler's birthday and he was leaving in the morning for a day long celebration. He canceled this to take care of our little boy!

Happy to hear that Reilly is on the mend!

What a wonderful Vet!!! Clearly, you are big time in deeded!

Just to add a reality check, expenses? Day 1, 850, surgery, 975, recovery in ICU, 800 per day!

Pet insurance is awesome I recommend getting nationwide. My parents have it and have saved tons. I have an 11 year old a 13 year old. Wish I had gotten it. So glad that your trooper is pulling through. Scary stuff!!! Your a great pet owner.

So happy Riley survived a terrible ordeal. Hope he continues to improve!

Both you and the surgeon are awesome for extreme dedication!!

I'm glad to hear Reilly is finally okay, and that he is home. I'm sorry this happened! I love Dachshunds. Wiener dogs :).

David, I am so happy that Riley is doing well now and is back home with you! He is absolutely adorable.

Thank you all, he is now our 10K little pup! Four years ago, three days after I lost my daughter, he broke his back! $6k, This adventure totaled out at $3500!
