Any bird-safe wood is a good choice, just check the sizing to make sure it’s something that will be comfortable for your bird. Aside from that, a lot is just personal preference for your bird. Our mustached parakeet really likes a twisty rope that coils downward (she sleeps on it), but our sun conure prefers a medium-sized bottlebrush wood perch. Our Goffins is all over, including various wood types, rope perches, and even a little platform. Our lineolated parakeet really prefers his rope perch.
