As you know, my Percy has a bum wing and is not a good flier. He only flies/flaps when startled.
I've been training him to 'stick 'em up' like Tab does with Fargo and sometimes it works, other times he just moves his wings a bit and scoffs to indicate he's done
Anyway, today I thought we should do some 'wing flaps' to keep the wings strong and so on. So...he was sitting on top of his cage, I bent my arms at the elbows and lifted my hands so that they're level with my shoulders, flapped them a bit and said "Flap, boy! Flap the wings!". Well, he got it instantly and flapped like crazy. Upon my profuse praise and "good good boooy!! oooh, what a clever bird you are!!" he puffed himself up in boastfulness (I love how he gets a 'crest' when he's really happy and enjoying the moment) and strutted around on his cage very proud.
However, when I made the motion again, he flapped even harder...and took off like a rocket! Right into my hair! My hair is long and curly and I had it in a messy bun ontop of my head. It was hysterical. He was entangled in my hair, screeching and biting and I was paralysed with laughter!

When I eventually got him out of my hair (a few sharp bites later) he went straight to his cage, highly offended that I laughed at him.
I don't know who was more surprised that he actually flew UPWARDS and not down like he normally does! He's refused to do a "flappie" for mommy ever since....
