7 Cockatiels <3
Hi! I'm new here so please tell me if im posting this in the wrong thread, i'm still a little confused.

So i have 3 Cockatiels that are siblings and the oldest, Coco is usually not vocal. He used to be, but now his brother, Boy is the most vocal out of the 3. Coco never really whistles when he's near me or his siblings but will be really vocal when he's alone. Is this just because he prefers being alone, introverted kind of bird or is this something serious?

He's really sweet vocally aside. He prefers to be with me rather then flying and playing with his brothers, he's okay with being handled and don't really show signs of hostility or sickness. They've been with me for 1 year since they're babies.

English is not my firat language so i do apologize if some things are not right 🙏🏻

It sounds like normal personality differences or a dominance thing to me. Perhaps Boy is the dominant male and makes that known by being more vocal and Coco accepts that but gets more vocal when away from Boy. You don't say what the third one does. Are you certain they are all males? I some mutations the sexes are hard to tell apart. Females are much less vocal and don't display and show off like males do.
It sounds like you have three really nice cockatiels- enjoy them and thanks for posting.

We have two probably-male Cockatiels (no DNA tests, but they show common male behaviors and their appearance changed after moulting), Kona and Pepper. We mostly hear one sing in the morning and another sing at night sometimes.

I think this is 1) Coco's personality, 2) the birds establishing their relationships with each other. Also, this could change. After another year, Coco could become the dominant bird.

For several months, Pepper was our more confident Cockatiel. Then Kona began to push and chase Pepper around sometimes. Now, Pepper is starting to defend himself more often.

None of these incidents are dangerous, though. They spend most of their time sitting quietly beside each other, and Pepper grooms Kona. When we tried to give them separate cages (so Pepper could have a break from Kona sometimes), they hated it!

Sounds normal to me. Every bird is its own person.
