Pet of the Day

Congrats and cute story and pic!

I had never seen a Nanday conure when I bought Rowdy. But, I had been doing some research and thought I wanted a conure. It worked out, lol!

I laughed reading Merlin's story because a lot of it applies to Pete as well, who I have only had about 3 months. He holds grudges for days I've learned. Amazons are definitely different. He got angry with me for taking him to the vet, and was nipping and throwing food at me for about 3 days. My other pets forgive me in minutes for that sort of thing.

Merlin is so pretty! That is an awesome story. You're not kidding about those firm boundaries. kazi is constantly pushing them.

lol he looks soo cute waving :) well done merlin :)

Lovely story and love the pictures. You're soo right about toddlers with wings, wanting to get into everything and can fly, bite, claw and scream. They'll get it if you're not careful! Loved it :) +I'm glad you put the whole "parrots arn't for everyone!"

Congratulations Merlin! He is such a gorgeous bird!

I love the article. Merlin is so beautiful, and I think it's so cute that he's waving.

Congratulations Merlin!

I enjoyed the pictures and the read thanks :) He is adorable :)

Congrats to you & Merlin! They ARE like flying 2 year olds. And, yes, Parrots are not for everyone. :DThough, I cannot possibly understand why not.:p

Congrats to Merlin!!! He's such a handsome bird!!! I might foster a Red Crowned Amazon for a little bit.

Okay, admit it - how many of you, when seeing the picture, waved back like I did when we were choosing him? ;)

Congrats again, handsome!

Awww...congratulations!

How lucky for you that your husband is a "one stop" shopper. ;)

Is having a parrot something you'd hinted to him about prior to him deciding Merlin was your gift? Quite a challenging choice for a FIRST time parront. :)

Merlin is gorgeous! Thanks so much for sharing.

Watch out Mikey, you get him in the house & he'll be yours for life.

Thanks everyone & thanks to Karen for encouraging me to send his story!

Nakiska, I visit every animal when we run into them. I have always been fascinated w/parrots, a pet store visit was a favorite thing. Really never thought I would have one, though. lol

No I can't...I offered a temporary home for him for the bird's sake, to take it or not is up to him. They're moving and need time to move and settle down, because of that they want to rehome him. So I offered a temporary refuge until they settled down.
