Re: More pic's of birds needing homes

Thanks for the pics, but you're not helping my MBS!:D

Awwww, Sorry ! The sweeties are All reaching out and thought I'd help by posting there pic's here..

OOOHHH that little green ekkie boy looks just like the one I am sooo in love with here!

That Ekkie is a baby, not very old, 9 months I think and so ever gentle.
I've never been bitten by it!!

What species are the 2 black/brown birds in the firt photo? They are beautiful!

They are some sort of sub-species of the Myna bird, and great talkers that copy things said. These two are not being sold separately. They grew up together.

Thanks for the pictures!

Where is the rescue/store?

I live a bit south of you and am always looking for a new avian store to visit.

Hey Turk....It's in Bay City, Of M-15...Owned by an Avian Vet, so the birds are of top notch and quality. Wings & Things

1009 N Madison Ave, Bay City, MI 48708

Aww, they are so precious! Beautiful birds, and in perfect feather. :-) I with you were closer to IL! :(

About 4 hours away from you.....give or take. These are quality birds owned and cared for by an Avian Vet who owns the store/Rescue.

Those are Aracari's... they are in the Toucan family.

EXTREMELY DIET SENSITIVE BIRDS!! Prone to iron storage disease.

I've never seen them in a rescue/rehome situation before. Those things are VERY rarely kept in the pet trade. Since they are so expensive and hard to come by, they are usually only owned by folks who really, really, really want one.

They are being sold as a pair, and reasonably priced as well. They are fed very well there at the store/Rescue, owned by an Avian Vet.

Terry, isn't that like Dactyl your bearded barbet? It looks like your Dactyl and the one at the bird store by me.

Birdman, remember Cateyes221981 has the toucanets and aracaris? She was showing the serrated beaks remember that?

Hey I think your right, I couldn't remember every species they have there, (Forgive my brain fart, been running in and out of this extremely brutally cold weather we are having.....have a brain freeze now- HAHA)

Anyway, yeah I believe they are barbets. Lovely nature these two, and yeah a bit hyper. Reasonably priced though, and the two go together.
They are fed very well, and diet watched as Mark is the Avian Vet that owns the store / Rescue. There are some 60 plus birds there. Species come in that I've never seen before, such as a Cherry headed conure. Cherry speckle conure. They have a beautiful Hyacinth macaw, a black palm cockatoo- This bird is amazing but on hold as it's incredibly unusual so I can see this one going fast. I've never seen one till that one.

What would a Black Palm be doing at a rescue?!!

My Husband is going to be so UNHAPPY with you for sharing this!!! He's banned me from pet stores and repeats something like "no more birds", it's fuzzy and I tell him I don't speak Spanish (he's Mexican).

Seriously though, this is a great share and I hope they find great homes and parronts.

LOL....Sorry....My wife said same thing, she's British " No More Bloody Birds" in her british slang/accent.

Awww, I hope they all find wonderful homes. You had to post that photo of the Umbie, didn't you? That's good, though, they need publicity. Thank you for posting this thread and the photos, Hawk.

Julie and Mark, I'm pretty sure you're right, I think it's a bearded barbet like Terry's dactyl. I couldn't adopt a bird like that, I'd over feed him after seeing the video of Terry's bird swallowing worms. I've never seen a bird show so much enthusiasm while eating.

Well Like all birds they like to share their food.....you have to learn to try a worm if you want into the flock.....

Hey Raven, the rescue is also a store. The Vet that owns it, Takes in rescues checks them out, takes them home for a couple weeks and observes them and socializes with them, and then he will have a report about the bird, it's disposition and bill of health. Then and only then will he release them to be rehomed. He has a heart of Gold, if someone suddenly has to get rid of their parrot for what ever reasons, he usually will take them in. He has a wonderful staff that goes to the store even on Holidays and Christmas to fed and care for the birds. You can't get a better cared for bird anywhere that I know of. The Black Palm is on hold. Must of just gotten it in.

Some birds are obtained from bird shows. In Michigan we have some pretty awesome bird shows.

Thanks Hawk!

I have heard good things about them. Need to go visit them soon.
