It's so amazing to find so many members near my age group . I was actually kindev afraid of people finding out that I'm 11 then saying that I'm too immature to handle a brd and that I should go and get a hamster or something.

Yes!!! Kid's can own parrots if they're mature and knowledgable, which I consider happycat, Mike, BirdLover11, Tabxo, Atwee21, etc., and me as knowlegable (sp). If you know the responsibilities and commitment of owning a parrot, then I find that ok.

Thanks, it made me feel a little better. I just hate it when a adult says to a younger member that they cant have birds just because they think they will make one dumb mistake and kill it. Heck, adults make more mistakes then kids in keeping pets. Also thanks for you saying that I'm a responsible knowlageble, I have really low esteem about myself so I always need a push every now and then. Thanks.

I am almost 18, im not sure there are too many people around my age on the forum..

oh and that cast looks so big for his little leg! haha but atleast you get cuddles! so cute

I'm not sugar coating anything, you really are.

There will be kids that do their research, be patient, and think things through. Not everyone will be going around thinking that the only kind of parrot is a scarlet macaw.

I got my first budgie when I was 12 years old. Twas the middle of summer, in August! By the time I was 13, I had a small flock of budgies and within two months was given a cockatiel and a cherry headed conure!

I'm 24 now with a mitred conure, 5 cockatiels and a bourke parakeet! I still have Casey, my very first cockatiel! It's actually been 11 years and one day ago that Casey came into my life! It's amazing how time flies! And Casey remains as sweet as ever!

Poor Sprite though! Hopefully time will fly and he can get that cast off him soon! (I say this as Sprite, my female cat, sits in my lap!)

I have no clue how to handle a parrot yet, that's why I came here for information. If a Kid knows more than I do, than who am I to say that information is wrong???
