These are my ferns

My indoor ferns look sad while my outdoor ones are thriving. I thought about switching them out. Is there a way to do this without bringing a bunch of bugs in my house?

Yes I’m a plant killer. I’m terrible with planting, or anything to do with it. I still enjoy doing it. So please help me! Take pitty on my poor plants.

P.S I haven’t watered my outdoor ferns all summer. They are doing great! I do water my indoor ones.

lol. I have an indoor jungle. My other big interest is plants (& before anyone asks, my birds are always very closely supervised out of cage so they don’t get into anything unsafe). How much light is your indoor fern getting?

I have a couple potted ferns that I put outdoors in the summer. They look a lot like your outdoor one. I tend to neglect them in the winter and they get too dry. I don't have a problem with bringing bugs in at least not after two summers outdoors.

The ferns are in a north facing window. They don’t get an ample amount of sun. I was informed they didn’t need it from a garden center where I live. Otherwise I probably wouldn’t have purchased the ferns.

The happiest ferns I’ve seen have been close to Eastern windows where they get a bit of morning light, but it’s not hot sun yet that will burn them.

North facing windows are only good for plastic plants unless you live Down Under.

I put the ferns by my larger parrot. He smells like a musty old sock sometimes. He showers every 2-3 days with just water. Sometimes it’s once a week depending on his mood. From my little research on plants ferns are good at odor elimination, and are hardy. All of my windows are north or south facing. I’d like to swap out my out door ferns for my indoor ones. I do not want an infestation of bugs in my house. I’ve had gnat problems due to overwatering my plants. Are there plants that are better for what I need them for?
