Sunny my gcc has been driving me crazy because he refused to play with any toys. He prefers hiding in my hair.

RIBBON - I found some and tied it to his basket. He loves it. He spent almost an hour without getting in my hair.

Any other ideas for toys that I can make?

Thanks

I love making toys! Look at pet stores for dog toys and hang them from the cage with caribeaners... make shreddable toys with toilet paper and paper towel rolls. My bird can't get enough of shredding up some toilet paper. Also things that are soft plastic and destructible are good. Whiffle balls are a favorite with my bird. Baby toys are a good bet. I made this mini tabletop play gym today with PVC pipe for $10. I'm a boycotter of expensive bird toys, they just cost too much money!

My conure LOVE the cardboard like egg cartons! I cut them into pieces and string them on a rope, and they go right after it. I used food colouring and made some that look like flowers and dipped the edges in colour.

I noticed he loves shredding the paper scraps I give him on a rare occasion. Curious about beads as toys. Pony beads or wood beads or no beads at all.

Sunny is shredding the wood basket. Good thing I have more.

Wood beads would probably be good because he could break them. Anything that you give them that is destructible they will love 😂 they love to ruin

I am going to stock up on sticks. He loves them too.

I bought Lily a corner perch and she loves to take bites out of the edge. I need to get her some more sticks to destroy!
I've also been reading up on homemade foraging toys to keep her occupied. I made Lily lots of toys to play with but she just sits on the edge of her cage and stares at me. I made one out of bottle caps and am hoping to make more different kinds with paper and toilet paper and such. She has no idea how to forage.

Balsa wood toys are a big hid with my GCC and cockatiels. The wood is soft enough that they can destroy it and all of them work relentlessly on it. My favourite balsa wood toy is the thick full branch with circles cut out - it lives much longer than the round cut pieces.

Mine likes to roll in my hand bite my fingers grab my fingers in the most annoying way. He is all about wrestling.

I built this hanging net last night and Lily loves it! I also bought hanger bolts and wing nuts at the hardware store and made these balsa perches for her to chew up

So maybe I'm a little obsessed with my Lilykins...

Sunny does not like anything other than ribbion. Letting him fly all over does help keep him happy. He was not real tame when we brought him home.

THIS is why I LOVE this place.
Even after 30+ years with my little rooster... new ideas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have tried popsicle sticks... no go. Toothpicks.. ok for short term. Shredded paper....not so much. My hair... his favorite toy and perch in the same place.

When I brought him home he was very agressive and would not allow me to handle him. Leaving his cage open and putting sunflower seeds in my pocket helped change it. He loves to be on me or on his basket next to me.

He still hates me when my hair is down. Braids and ponytails are ok.

My SC loves, loves ribbon. His fave is holding it in mouth and feet while rolling on his back!

Sunny loops it with his foot and then stretches out and then loops it again.

Bells? I seems like conures can't resist noise makers. Foraging might be a way to go also.

Nope. He twisted the bells off his toys. He really does not play with toys. He seems to think I am his go to "toy".
