Hahahaha! Actually, wiseguy, depending on the speed of impact, the air bags could indeed be worse. The impact speed doesn't have to be very high to trigger the bag deployment, after all. And one of the reasons for the weight pressure needed for bag activation is that children below a certain weight and height (who should not be in the front seat, anyway) could actually be killed by the rapidly expanding bag rather than by the car impact itself. Below a certain height and weight, the air bag is actually inimical to one's health.
Not to mention that, as can be inferred by the last sentence or two of the article, the little caffeine fiend thankfully survived the crash. (Hopefully he's learned his lesson about trying to steal a sip from his mother's coffee cup while she's driving. How could she possibly be expected to keep her eyes on the road with all THAT going on? Lol!)
