I have a 40 X 30 flat top cage and would like to addf a play top to it. I have seen where they sell a aftermarket playtop for cages, but I can't remember where I saw it at.

If any ideas, I would appreciate it. He likes to sit on top of his cage, so I thought a playtop would be a nice addition for him.

Thanks,
MIke

Maybe you could make one out of pvc? There's some good directions for making stands out of pvc here, you could just design it to fit the top of the cage. :)

I had looked at those, but they were too small for my Eclectus. But what I was actually looking for was the plat top attachment for this tip of cage.

The cage has bolt holes on the top where a play area could have been attached. So I'm not sure whether this was an option that the previous owner decided not to get. But it would look something like the one in the picture attached.

But since I couldn't find any place that had the play top portion as an add on option that I could purchase seperately, I decided to go with one of these in stead.

It bolts onto the top of the cage. It has several eye hooks to hang toys. With it being natural wood, he might like it.

That's the kind of thing I'm thinking River is gonna get for Christmas. Most likely the one in the second link I posted. With his cage being a dometop, the first one wouldn't work, but I'm thinking the perch kind should be ok since it only attaches with one bolt. Where did you get yours from? The one I'm thinking of getting is $24 at mysafebirdstore. It's smaller than yours I think, but of course my bird is smaller than yours too heh heh.

I found it on Ebay for $65.00 + shipping. (mtdoramike's)

I like this idea. I think Nolan my eastern rosella would like one maybe for xmas would never have thougt of it there arent any good pet shops that sell many bird products near to me, will have to look online (uk sites). Do you think i could make one out of a tree branch if so would it have to be a certain type of tree and would it have to be treated?

You can make one from a tree branch, but you must know what type of tree is allowed for use with birds. There are a lot of trees that are deadly to birds. Then the bark has to be stripped and the limb must be thoroughly dried.

I so wish we all had enough room to have a bird room. Then we could do all kinds of things and install a floor that is easily cleaned.

OK, Mac received his new cage playtop perch. It's made of mazanita wood. It ran me like $85.00 shipped, but it's like a piece of art. It's beautiful. But as you can tell from the first picture, Mac ain't jumping for joy. He's scared to death of it. Tiki on the other hand gets on it and crawls all over it. So if Mac doesn't start showing some interest in it, Tiki will benefit from it.

I actually have to remove it from his cage or he wouldn't go on top of his cage or even into his cage to go to sleep.

Awwww Mac! It's fun not scarey buddy!

hahahahahaha, my wife says believes that Mac might think it's a 7 headed snake.

Given enough time he will get used to it. Looks like deer antlers. Love the play areas for your birds. How lucky they are.
