Preferred product for nail trimming?

Hi all! When you trim your birds' nails, what product do you use to stop the bleeding? Quik stop powder or gel? Or do you make something homemade, like flour and water?

Ever since I started using a dremel, there has been no more blood for me.

Corn starch works GREAT to stop the bleeding.

Quik stop powder is actually toxic if ingested so I never use that. I havent had to deal with bleeding yet but I hear flour or corn starch works best.

We use nail clippers, and quick stop or corn starch.
Marcia is right about it being toxic, my cockatiel injested some after he'd been attacked by one of my lovebirds, she had bitten his nail off, and it made him soooooo sleepy and very uncoordinated. he turned out fine.

Do you all know if the gel is poisonous too?

When you use corn-starch, do you wet it, or just put it on dry? I am asking now so I can stop the bleeding right away if I clip a vein (haven't tried trimming my birds' nails myself)/

Don't wet it, just apply it dry, apply gentle pressure for a while, and it should stop it.
