Hi - this is Kathie from My Safe Bird Store. This post is quite disturbing to me. I chose this line since, after attending a trade show in Orlando in February, so many breeders had boasted that they were switching to the Pisttacus formula, including one very well known aviculturist and breeder. Can you give me a little more information, as I take my business and the safety of birds very seriously and need to address this with this company? Thanks so much!

No worries. I did speak with the company, and they advised that this was a one-time occurrence with a breeder being ill-informed. I do understand that things can happen. Babies can aspirate, etc. However, posting such a broad statement from thrid hand information is not always respectable. It appears you are a breeder. So let's say someone had a baby that had a congenital defect and passed. How you feel it they posted on the internet that you sell sick babies? Make sense?
Would it be too much to ask for you to remove your post? These things are damaging not only to the company, Psittacus, but also to the retailers that sell their products. I am ever so thankful that you corrected your post. Stay safe and have a wonderful holiday.

Their ingredients listed fall quite short! Seed oils? Just a list of vitamins without sources! Or levels!

I would have to agree with you, David. That's not an ingredients list, that's reads like someone giving me a 30,000ft summary of the contents as they are reading, "Some cereal grains, some byproducts, some oils, some legumes"

I'm also highly suspicious, generally speaking, of these lines like Harrisons and Psittacus, with specific formulations such as "High Protein", "High Mainentance", "High potency","Mainentance"....
When you get into such specialized formulae, it almost comes to a point you need a prescription from a vet to actually know what you should be feeding. High energy food or High Protein food are clearly specialist feeding systems that are designed for very specific purposes, and shouldn't be fed to just any bird. Yet people grab the wrong formulation for them daily.

That's fine. I believe the company is awaiting approval to post here. Just waiting for the Administrator to approve. Perhaps their rep can answer these questions. Seeing as how your information is third hand, I am going to remain confident based upon the many breeders who were using the formula, including one very well known ornithologist/breeder in Florida. Additionally, I am selling and have been using the foods. I love that they are not full of fillers and all ingredients are natural. Thanks for your time.

I don't understand how any company can make a claim that it's products Are or Are Not organic, non-GMO, etc if their listing of ingredients are that vague. If they don't even know Which grains, Which Legumes, and Which BY-Products are in their product, how can they possibly certify the origin of any of those items??
To make such claims a company needs to be able to certify each step in the buying process for its ingredients, and that seems dubious when they don't even know what their ingredients are.
If this was food in a grocery store I'm pretty sure it would not even be legal to sell with such a vague ingredients list. I've looked into various regular pellets for my birds -- in fact there are a couple I cannot even try because I am allergic to an ingredient! -- and they all have exhaustive, Specific lists of ingredients.
I just did a quick online search and I'm not finding more specific ingredients either. MySafe, as a Vendor of this product, do your packages of the item have Actual ingredients listed? Perhaps what is coming up online is just an aberration?
Or, do the actual packages also just contain this summary list instead?

I have been feeding Psittacus now for a couple months. I was also very disturbed when I heard they saw what happened with the Crimson babies. I know the Distributor did offer to do in necropsy at their expense which was refused.
My babies look amazing on it! I did start questioning it I will not lie once I heard about the prolapse rectums. This food what makes it so unique is it is species specific but with that being said you do have to see the correct formulas. Pyhurra get Frugivorous there are charts that must be followed precisely. Also, for folks that do day one you know must thin formula in beginning. I have had one chick does out of 80+ day ones and that was a baby that had a hard hatch and I assisted. I have a brown throat that is not thriving as well but again that was my fault I overstretched the crop.
I am currently feeding a dozen ringnecks, suns and crimson so far still fine on crop milk. I will gladly share any information I have if someone cares to know or see photos! The babies are very robust the feathering is absolutely impeccable!
Also my store I sell to Birds of Pet Paradise is now strictly feeding the formula as well. She has told me that there is an amazing difference in feathering in size! She didn’t do a test andPut birds back on KAytee and the store handfeeders notice a difference and requested the babies back on Psittacus. This is a high-end feed and if not followed. Letti is very helpful with any questions and always makes her self readily available . If there of been other incidents with this food or formula I would like to hear it for the people I know are not having problems and I did check after the one incident. I did have another incident where babies some of them were chugging on each other frantically but again that was human error moving them down on feedings for weaning.

Are you even feeding the product because if you do you have the label on your bags I can’t post a picture otherwise I wouldn’t see that what ingredients are really in there . I’d be happy to share I have most of their products here!

This is a valid argument in the specific ingredients are actually on the bags. I’m sure if you contacted the distributor they be more than happy to share with you for the specific product looking for the exact ingredient list.

My GCC is on this pellet. He was fed their bird formula as a hatchling, and is now on their pellet. He has glossy feathers, is very healthy. His vet was impressed. I have nothing but good things to say about it, for what it's worth. I'm excited MyBirdSafeStore started to carry it, as ill continue to use it.
