Ivy: Canary-winged Parakeet (Brotogeris versicolurus)
Ivy just yanked out a brand-new feather in her tail! It was only 75% grown! Why would she do that? She pulled out another one too but it didn't look right so I figured she wanted it to regrow?

The one she just pulled had some stress bars (her life was rough before she came to me). Do they pull them out to try again if the feather isn't good?

She's eating Harrison's and veggies and gets 12 hours of darkness a night and seems so happy. Ack!

I may have itched or hurt or she was bored keep watch and make sure she doesn't get into the habit of plucking.

I had a similar thing happen! My tiel pulled out all her flight feathers on both wings. They were growing in, but she took out the ones that were fully grown in too. It was bloody. Then my EB did the same thing, but on one wing. There was ALOT of blood.

That was last year and early this year, and nothing has happened since, even when they had new feathers growing in again. It was so weird, no one really has a good answer for me.
They acted like nothing happened and it hasn't affected them since.

From why I've been told feathers hurt like hell when growing just like wisdom tooth or teeth for baby you just need to distract them more try taking your bird showers more so they have to clean there self instead of finding that one feather that hurts ,just my suggestion
