Bella the BFA
Hi Guys! Thought I'd share a sneak peak of my PVC play gym project for my BFA. Just need to clean and put on vet wrap and toys ^_^. This was super easy to make and I didnt expect it to be so HUGE. It is 30x36 and 6ft tall :11:

haha I am also making a smaller one so will update that soon!

Wow! It's fantastic, you've done an amazing job! I'll be shocked if your BFA doesn't absolutely love it!

Very nice! Blue fronts are active parrots and like to climb, so I'm sure your bird will appreciate the larger than expected size:) Looks like you have more than enough room on there to put all kinds of toys, ropes and maybe even a cargo net there in the back. I'll be interested in seeing it totally finished!

I was thinking of either hanging 4 long toys down or maybe cargo net. But I plan to purchase a cargo net and put it in the corner of the room anyways so I dont think i need two nets cas its expensive.. ahha

I made a second one ! this one is 25x25 hight is about 50 inch ^_^ this is a smaller one for the living room hehehe. It is so fun and easy building this. Super cheap too. Spent maybe $20 on the pvc heads/Ts/Caps. My boyfriend purchased bunch of pvc pipes long time ago never used them so I didnt have to spend money to buy more. Save myself lots of $$ I saw these pvc play gym for sale at stores and website for at least $40 for a small one I wonder how much itll cost for a huge one :O

I would totally make more just for fun but i doubt ill have anymore room haha

Yeah. PVC is wonderful stuff. And the only limits are your imagination, and what fittings you can find and make work. Those turned out nice.

The reason I used the cargo nets on mine is to give them the easiest way possible to climb between levels. You can do the same thing with low hanging rope toys. I've also used cotton rope horse leads...

Working with PVC is sort of like playing with tinker toys as a kid, in a way, only these are adult tinker toys...

I bet this baby has no idea how spoiled he/she will be when it comes home:D I suggested a cargo net (or maybe a couple "rope bridges") so your bird can climb around the stand easily and get from point A to B by climbing as well as flying. Did I mention, blue fronts LOVE climbing:p

Take a look at what Lullx made into a very nice simple cargo net!

I have watched the videos on how the big boys make their nets, and the jig they use is intriguing! Looks almost like a chain link fence with pegs! Holds the loops perfectly, and you just keep resetting your net as it grows.
Dang! Could almost do the same thing with a plastic pop bottle holder that is used to deliver bottles in bulk! Am talking about plastic trays. Hmmm,.

Play gyms look great! You (and a post from Birdman awhile ago) have inspired me to get some PVC and start building!

You should definitely should try it !! Super fun and easy and will keep you occupied on your days off haha. I would love to make more but I'm running out of room in my parrots room haha

Only thing I would say to that one, is from a design perspective, it looks like the upper perches are set up over the lower bowls... so, guess what's likely to get pooped on. Turn the upper perches sideways, that doesn't happen.
(I've learned to look for that stuff over the years.)

How did you get the upper bowls fixed on the end caps? Are they drilled out and bolted? Or are they those screw-in type bowls?

hahah I guess it does look like i have lower bowls attached to the perch! Its actually not attached to the perch its my dog's food and water bowl. hahahha. Also I used hot glue gun to glue the bowls on the cap. If i need to changed the water of clean the bowl i just twist the cap off.

Looks great! What is the diameter of the PVC pipe you used? I like the vet tape colors you chose.

Hope to see a photo of Bella on the stand soon!

Excellent work! You could certainly sell those on eBay or Etsy! Rick made one for Pixie and my only addition was a weight on the bottom and something to stop it from slipping on the floors. Thanks for the share!

The bottom part is 25 x 25. and the height is about 45inch ? and the perches are 10 inches

Thanks! I need to get my eyes checked...

I thought that was an odd place to put bowls, on the lowest perch... DUH!

I'm always looking for good ideas for mounting food bowls to PVC. I never considered hot glue gunning before. Let me know how those hold up.

COMPLETE PVC PLAY GYM! Pics!

So. This is the BIG play gym that I made for Bella. IT IS FINALLY COMPLETE. Please tell me what you think and if you think I should add anything or take something off let me know! ^_^

BTW Bella's room is still being organized. I still need to get a cargo net and place it on the wall ^_^

WOW!! Pumpkin is soo jealous and wants to go to your house for a play date! This puts his play gym to shame! And he said he is now very disappointed with my efforts, haha. Very very good job!! It looks like a lot of fun.
